Ableed lotion is a topical haemostatic preparation used to help control minor external bleeding and oozing from suitable superficial skin areas. It contains a combination of citric acid and butyl alcohol, which act locally at the bleeding site. They may help small blood vessels tighten and platelets gather to form an early plug, reducing continued bleeding and rebleeding. Ableed lotion is shaken and applied to the affected skin only as directed by a healthcare professional. It is for external use only and is not a substitute for urgent care for deep, heavy or spurting bleeding.
