Diethylcarbamazine is used to treat the filariasis.
Uses
- Filariasis disease caused by infection with wuchereria bancrofti, brugia malayi or brugia timori bacteria
- Lymphatic filariasis
- Tropical pulmonary eosinophilia
- Loiasis (a nematode infestation)
- Visceral larva migrans
Contraindications
When should one not use Diethylcarbamazine
Do not take Diethylcarbamazine if you are allergic to it or have conditions including a history of epilepsy or convulsions, kidney or heart problems.

- Dizziness
- Vomiting
- Abnormal liver function tests

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
Some medicines may interact with Diethylcarbamazine like Amodiaquine, Chloroquine, Hydroxychloroquine, and Primaquine because these medicines may decrease the blood concentration of Diethylcarbamazine and affect the effectiveness of the same if you are taking any over-the-counter drug or herbal medicine.

Dosage
Overdose
Inform your doctor immediately in case of overdose. If you overdose with Diethylcarbamazine, immediately seek emergency medical help. Symptoms that have been reported are nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and dizziness.
