Medical Description
Pronate Ez Tab is a combination medicine containing two active ingredients, Etizolam and Propranolol. It belongs to the group of medications known as anti-anxiety medicines. It is used to treat various psychiatric issues like Anxiety disorders, depression and sleep problems.
Etizolam is a benzodiazepine that acts by increasing the effect of GABA ( chemical messenger which is responsible for the feeling of relaxation over the central nervous system (brain, lungs and heart), thus helping the patient feels calm & relaxed.
Propranolol is a beta-blocker and acts by causing blockage of chemical messengers in and around the heart and blood vessels, thus helping to reduce blood pressure, reduce heart rate, and workload on the circulatory system.
Pronate Ez Tab is taken orally with water, with or without food and at the same time every day.
It is not prescribed for patients below the age of 18 years. It can cause side effects like dizziness, sedation, slow heartbeat and uncoordinated limb movements. It is not advised to get up suddenly from a sitting/ lying position when on Pronate Ez Tab.

- If you have an allergy to etizolam or propranolol.
- If you have Myasthenia gravis.
- If you have lung disease.
- If you have Narrow-angle glaucoma( increased Intra eye pressure due to narrow-angle of iris and retina, which blocks drainage).
- If you have liver disorders.
- If you have kidney ailments.
- If you have low blood pressure.
- If you have a long-term psychiatric illness.
- If you have a known history of self-harm/self-injury.
- If you have a history of substance abuse.

Talk to your doctor if
- You experience any allergy after taking Pronate Ez Tab like rashes, hives or swelling on the face.
- You want to increase/decrease the dose of the medication.
- You want to stop taking Pronate Ez Tab.
- The side effects are too severe and disrupt your everyday life.
Directions for Use
- Pronate Ez Tab is taken orally with water with/without food and as many times as prescribed by your doctor after evaluating your condition.
- Do not chew or crush the tablet in powder form. Take the medication at the same time every day.
- Do not change the dose without consultation with your physician.
- It is advised to always check for the expiry date before starting the medication.
- It is not recommended for anyone below the age of 18 years.
- Do not share the medication with anyone you know who has any depression/ anxiety issues. Medical consultation is a must for this medication.
- It may carry a risk of dependency over prolonged use. Therefore patients should be monitored regularly, especially those with a known history of substance abuse.
Storage and disposal
It should always be stored at room temperature and away from direct sunlight/moisture. It should be kept away from children and pets at home.
The disposal of any unused Pronate Ez Tab should always be along with other medical waste. Any unused medication should not be drained away in sinks or washrooms. Do not throw away Pronate Ez Tab along with other household waste.
Dosage
Overdose
Overdose of Pronate Ez Tab can cause drowsiness, uncontrolled muscle movement, rapid heart rate, and loss of consciousness. It may lead to coma if not appropriately managed.
Any known cases of overdose with Pronate Ez Tab should be immediately reported to the emergency department of your nearest healthcare provider.
Missed a Dose
Pronate Ez Tab has to be taken every day at around the same time. If you miss a dose of Pronate Ez Tab, you can take the missed dose as soon as you realise that you have missed the dose. If the next scheduled dose is only a few hours away, it is advised not to take the missed dose and directly take the next scheduled dose and then continue as usual. Do not double your dose without consulting your physician. Inform your physician about any missed dose.

How Does It Work?
Pronate Ez Tab contains Etizolam and Propanolol as the active ingredients.
Etizolam: is a benzodiazepine that acts by binding on the GABA (chemical transmitter between neurons responsible for relaxing brain activity) receptors in the brain, thus increasing its activity to stop other neurotransmitters from sending signals to the brain. It helps to reduce the activity of the brain.
GABA(gamma-aminobutyric acid) is known as the relaxant of the central nervous system, and it helps make the patient calm and have a good sleep.
Propranolol is a beta-blocker that acts by causing blockage of chemical messengers In and around the heart and the blood vessels, thus helping to reduce blood pressure, reduce heart rate, and workload on the blood circulation system.
Thus in combination, Pronate Ez Tab reduces anxiousness and helps to make the patient calm and happy.
Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Diphenhydramine (anti-allergic) can increase the side effects of propranolol.
- Itraconazole and fluvoxamine(antifungals) increase the etizolam deposit in the blood, causing increased side effects.
- Carbamazepine, phenytoin, Clonazepam, alprazolam ( anti-epileptic) decrease etizolam build-up.
- Sedative hypnotics like Zolpidem can cause severe respiratory problems.
- Cimetidine & omeprazole ( medicine for gastric ulcers) can cause etizolam build-up.
- Antipsychotics like clozapine can cause respiratory problems.
- Opioid painkiller morphine & codeine can cause respiratory problems.
- High blood pressure medication like clonidine, moxonidine, hydralazine, minoxidil, nitroprusside, mibefradil - cardiac toxicity is a possibility of prolonged use.
Interactions with food items
- Pronate Ez Tab does not seem to react adversely with any food.
