Pantadom Sr 40mg Strip Of 10 Capsules Description

Pantadom Sr Capsule is used to treat acid reflux, also known as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). It helps relieve the symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, chest pain, discomfort, and irritation

associated with acid reflux. Pantadom Sr Capsule is also used to treat peptic ulcers, stomach discomfort, acidity, etc. It is a combination medicine containing pantoprazole and domperidone as the main components. This medicine works by reducing the formation of acid in the stomach. It also improves gut movement, preventing acid backflow to the food pipe. Pantadom Sr Capsule should only be used under medical supervision. Your doctor will decide the dose, duration, and frequency of your medicine use. It should be taken in doses and at the prescribed duration. When taking Pantadom Sr Capsule, try to eat less spicy food and drink plenty of fluids. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, as these can make your condition worse. People taking Pantadom Sr Capsule for a long time should be monitored regularly for hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels in the blood) and bone fractures. This is especially important for older people and people with other risk factors. Tell your doctor before taking Pantadom Sr Capsule if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or give you a different medicine. Pantadom Sr Capsule is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or children under 18 years of age. It should be used with caution in older people (over 65 years of age).

Uses of Pantadom Sr 40mg Strip Of 10 Capsules

Pantadom Sr Capsule is used to treat GERD (Gastrointestinal reflux disease), not responding to pantoprazole alone. It helps in relieving symptoms such as heartburn, chest discomfort or acidity.

Contraindications of Pantadom Sr 40mg Strip Of 10 Capsules

If you are allergic to pantoprazole or domperidone or any component of Pantadom Sr Capsule.
If you are taking an anti-HIV medicine called rilpivirine.
If you have or ever had bleeding or obstruction in the stomach or intestine.
If you have any liver or kidney-related problems.
If you have prolactin pituitary tumours (tumour of the pituitary gland).
If you have any heart conditions such as heart failure, heart rhythm problems, electrolyte or salt imbalance.
Medicines known to alter heart rhythm should not be taken along. If you are not sure which are these medicines ask your doctor.

There is limited safety information available on the use of Pantadom Sr Capsule in pregnancy. Hence, the use of this medicine should be avoided, unless prescribed by your doctor.

Breast Feeding

Can I take Pantadom Sr Capsule while breastfeeding?

Components of Pantadom Sr Capsule pass in the breast milk in a small amount. Hence, it should be avoided while breastfeeding. Your doctor may prescribe you this medicine while you are breastfeeding, only if it is necessary.

Driving

Can I drive if I have consumed Pantadom Sr Capsule?

Pantadom Sr Capsule have no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines. However, if you experience headaches, dizziness, drowsiness and visual disturbances, it is advisable not to drive or use machines.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with Pantadom Sr Capsule?

There is no interaction reported between this medicine and alcohol. However, alcohol is known to increase acidity and can make your acidity worse.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You develop watery diarrhoea or fever after taking this medicine.
You experience black tarry stools and abdominal pain after taking this medicine.
You have a stomach tumour or cancer.
You have kidney, liver-related disorders, heart disease
You have or had a fracture recently or have brittle or weak bones (Osteoporosis).
You are on steroids or HIV medicines or any anti-infective medicine.
You experience any skin reaction.
Consult your doctot if you are on this medicine for a long time. He/she may start you on magnesium, vitamin B12 supplements .
Taking this medicine for more than one year may can weaken the bones, consult your doctor.

Mode of Action of Pantadom Sr 40mg Strip Of 10 Capsules

How Does It Work?

Pantoprazole works by inhibiting a pump called the proton pump in the stomach wall, responsible for the secretion of stomach acids for digestion and hence leads to reduced acid production.
Domperidone is an antiemetic medicine. It works by increasing the motility of the stomach and bowel, thus prevents the backflow of the food and stomach acids towards the food pipe.

Directions for Use of Pantadom Sr 40mg Strip Of 10 Capsules

Pantadom Sr Capsule should be taken as a whole with a sufficient amount of water. Take Pantadom Sr Capsule, preferably in the morning before your first meal, i.e breakfast.
