How does this medicine work?

Calcitriol helps the intestine absorb calcium and phosphorus. Calcium supports bones, teeth and normal muscle contraction. Zinc supports immune and tissue functions, while phytomenadione supports vitamin K-dependent clotting and bone metabolism. Boric acid is part of the formulation and is not assigned a separate therapeutic role here.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Ossinex K tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, calcium and zinc can reduce absorption of thyroid medicines, iron and some antibiotics, so ask how to separate them. Also mention other calcium or vitamin D products, medicines containing digoxin, water tablets and warfarin or other blood-thinning treatment because calcitriol, calcium or phytomenadione may change their effects.

Interactions with food items

No specific food interaction is established. Do not add large amounts of calcium, vitamin D or mineral supplements without medical advice. Tell your doctor about fortified drinks and other mineral products.
