Interactions with other medicines

  • Concomitant use of medicines used to lower blood sugar can cause alterations in the heart rate and insulin
  • Concomitant use of rizatriptan and propranolol increases blood levels of rizatriptan
  • Concomitant use of digitalis glycosides may increase AV conduction time
  • Concomitant use of calcium channel blockers (e.g. verapamil, diltiazem, nifedipine) can cause a severe drop in blood pressure and heart rate and cause heart failure
  • Concomitant use of adrenaline can lower the effectiveness of propranolol
  • Concomitant use of lidocaine levels can increase blood levels of lidocaine
  • Concomitant use of cimetidine or hydralazine raises propranolol blood levels
  • Concomitant use of ibuprofen and indomethacin reduces propranolol's blood pressure-lowering effects
  • Concomitant use of chlorpromazine raises blood levels of both the medicines
