Medical Description

Kodin Syrup is primarily used to treat dry cough as well as allergies like hay fever, watery eyes, sneezing, and throat irritation. The active ingredients in Kodin Syrup are codeine and chlorpheniramine. Codeine belongs to a group of medications called opiates and works by decreasing brain activity in the part that causes coughing. Chlorpheniramine belongs to a class of medications called antihistamines and works by blocking the action of a substance in the body called histamine, which causes allergy symptoms. The combined action of codeine and chlorpheniramine reduces cough and allergy symptoms. Directions for use of Kodin Syrup should be strictly followed. It is advisable to take this medication at a fixed time every day during the entire course of treatment. Side effects of Kodin Syrup include sneezing, nausea, vomiting, rash, hives, seizures, dry mouth, etc.
