Description

Imiquad cream contains imiquimod, a medicine used on the skin to treat certain abnormal or infected skin conditions. It is commonly prescribed for external genital and perianal warts, sun-damaged skin (actinic keratosis), and some types of superficial skin cancer. This cream does not directly kill viruses or abnormal cells; instead, it helps your body’s natural defence system respond better to the problem area.

When applied on the skin, imiquimod stimulates the immune system and activates protective cells in the body. These cells release natural substances that help fight viruses and abnormal skin cells. Because of this action, the cream helps reduce warts, repair precancerous skin changes, and control abnormal skin growth over time.

Since Imiquad cream works by boosting the immune response locally on the skin, its effects develop gradually. You may notice redness, mild swelling, or irritation at the application site, which usually means the medicine is working. However, the treatment may take several weeks to show visible improvement, depending on the condition being treated.

Imiquad cream is meant only for external use and should be applied exactly as prescribed. Using more than recommended or applying it on healthy skin may cause unnecessary irritation. Regular and correct use helps achieve better results while reducing the risk of side effects.

Breast Feeding

Q:
Can I apply Imiquad cream while breastfeeding?
A:
After applying imiquimod cream on the skin, very little of the medicine enters the bloodstream, and measurable levels are usually not detected. However, there is not enough clear information about its safety during breastfeeding. Therefore, Imiquad cream should be used with caution while breastfeeding, and only if your doctor feels it is necessary. Avoid applying the cream on or near the breast area to prevent contact with the baby.
driving

Driving

Q:
Can I drive if I have applied Imiquad cream?
A:
Imiquad cream has no or very little effect on your ability to drive or use machines, so it is generally safe to drive after applying it. However, if you feel unwell, dizzy, or unusually tired after using the cream, it is better to avoid driving or operating machines and seek medical advice.
alcohol

Alcohol

Q:
Can I consume alcohol with Imiquad cream?
A:
There is no strong evidence that alcohol directly interacts with Imiquad cream because it is applied on the skin and only a very small amount is absorbed into the body. However, alcohol can sometimes make you feel weak or affect your immune system, which may influence how your body responds to treatment. For better safety and healing, it is advisable to limit or avoid alcohol while using Imiquad cream, especially if you notice any unusual symptoms.
