Etirest is a prescription medication used to manage anxiety, panic disorders and depression. The main ingredient of Etirest is called Etizolam. Etizolam belongs to a group of medications called thien
odiazepine, which is a medicine that is similar to benzodiazepines. Anxiety is a medical condition characterised by excessive worry or fear. It may be associated with trembling, increased sweating, excessive heart rate or fast breathing. These may also be seen along with depression associated with low mood, feeling of hopelessness, problems falling asleep and weight changes. When seen in an acute setting or a severe form, these features are known as panic disorder. This medication is mainly used for a short period. It should be taken only in the dose and duration recommended by the doctor. Do not suddenly stop the medication. In case of any problems while taking the tablet, consult a doctor.

- As per CDSCO, Etirest is primarily used to manage the following conditions:
- For generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) associated with depression
Contraindications of Etirest 0.25 MG
- Etirest is contraindicated in the following cases:
- If you have neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis (a condition where voluntary muscles get easily fatigued)
- If you have breathing difficulties, e.g. acute pulmonary insufficiency and sleep apnea
- If you have liver or kidney disease
- If you have acute narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes)
- If you have porphyria
- If you have any chronic psychiatric illness
- If you have low blood pressure

- Swallow this medication as a whole. Do not crush, chew or break this tablet.

- Complete the full course of the medication.
- Do not stop the medicine suddenly as it can result in withdrawal side effects. Consult your doctor before stopping this medication.
Interactions of Etirest 0.25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Etirest should not be taken with any sedating medications such as antihistamines as it can cause excessive drowsiness.
- Etirest should not be taken with certain medications used to reduce acidity, such as omeprazole or pantoprazole.
- Etirest should not be taken with antidepressants or antipsychotics
- Etirest should not be taken with beta-blockers or ACE II inhibitors commonly used in the treatment of hypertension
- Inform your doctor regarding any medications you are taking at the time of prescription of Etirest.
- Many medications interfere with the metabolism of Etirest and cause changes in the blood levels, such as fluvoxamine, rifampicin, carbamazepine, etc.
