Medical Description

Escnx Plus tablets are primarily used for the treatment of Anxiety disorder. Escnx Plus tablets belong to the therapeutic classification of antianxiety and antidepressants. Escnx Plus tablets are a combination medicine. It consists of clonazepam and citalopram. Clonazepam comes under the therapeutic classification of Benzodiazepines. It helps in relieving anxiety by decreasing the brain's abnormal electrical activity. Citalopram aids in enhancing the mood. It acts by increasing the availability of serotonin in the brain. This combination of medicines helps treat anxiety disorders like panic attacks, generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder. Escnx Plus tablets may cause side effects like drowsiness and sleepiness, affecting your daily activities. Immediately inform your doctor if you experience any of such side effects. Do not stop taking medicine if you do not find any improvement, as it may take a few weeks to see improvement in your condition. Abrupt cessation of this medicine can cause withdrawal symptoms.

How Does It Work?

Escnx Plus tablet exerts its mechanism of action by acting on certain chemical neurotransmitters in the brain that help regulate mood and depression. Clonazepam exerts its action by increasing the activity of a significant neuro inhibitory transmitter GABA (Gamma Amino Butyric Acid), in the central nervous system. It reduces anxiety attacks and panic disorders. GABA decreases electrical activity in the central nervous system by inhibiting brain signals. Citalopram exerts its action by increasing the serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin is a chemical neurotransmitter in the brain that carries signals from one part of the brain to another. This mechanism of action in the brain helps in treating anxiety.

  • To avoid undesirable side effects of drug interaction, inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are currently taking.
  • Interaction with carbamazepine can affect the clearance (amount of medicine removed from plasma) of Escnx Plus tablets leading to increased drowsiness and other side effects of this medicine.
  • Interaction with anticoagulants like warfarin & aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Antidepressants and opioids like morphine, codeine can cause Central nervous system depression.
