Dexasporin Injection is a steroid medicine. It is used to reduce severe inflammations in the joints like in the case of rheumatoid arthritis, a severe case of asthma and treat many conditions of skin

allergies, eye conditions and is also used in post-surgery care. It contains dexamethasone as its active ingredient. This medicine acts by reducing the formation of inflammation-causing substances in the body. It is given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic. Do not self inject. Uses of Dexasporin 8 MG

Dexasporin Injection is used to manage severe inflammations of joints and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis.
It is given after surgery to avoid any sudden complications known as post-operative shock.
It is used to treat various allergies associated with the skin (eczema, erythroderma) and lung disorders (asthma attack).
It is also used in cancer therapy to reduce some specific symptoms and side effects to improve the quality of life.

Contraindications of Dexasporin 8 MG

If you are allergic to dexamethasone or any other ingredient of Dexasporin Injection.
If you have a bacterial infection of the blood, fungal infections, infection at joints due to TB or Gonorrhoea.
If you have any infection at the injection site.
Dexasporin Injection should not be used for any infection spread throughout the body.

Side effects of Dexasporin 8 MG

Side effects of Dexasporin Injection depend on the dose and duration of the treatment. You may experience a flare at the site of injection and other local reactions.

Pregnancy

Can I be given Dexasporin Injection during pregnancy?

Dexasporin Injection is not recommended during pregnancy as there is a risk of retarded growth and a reduction in adrenal hormones in the unborn child when used for prolonged periods. Hence, it is not advisable to take this injection. However, it can be prescribed by a doctor when the benefits of this medicine to pregnant women outweigh the risks to the unborn baby.

Breast Feeding

Can I be given Dexasporin Injection while breastfeeding?

It is unknown if the dexamethasone passes into the breastmilk. Hence, the Dexasporin Injection should be avoided while breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor.

Driving

Can I drive if I have been given Dexasporin Injection?

There is limited information about the effects of Dexasporin Injection on driving. However, you should not drive if you experience any side effects which can hamper your ability to be alert.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol if I have been Dexasporin Injection?

Although there is no known interaction of Dexasporin Injection with alcohol, it is important to consult your doctor if you drink alcohol too often.

You have ulcers, bone and muscle-related disorder.
This injection if taken for long term treatment, can interfere with the growth and hormonal imbalance.
Dexasporin Injection should be used carefully in the elderly and premature babies.

Dexasporin Injection will be given in the hospital by your doctor or nurse. Do not self-inject this medicine.
Follow any instructions suggested by the doctor or nurse during the procedure or for aftercare.

Interactions of Dexasporin 8 MG

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Dexasporin Injection works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
Medicines like Rifampicin (antibiotic), Phenytoin, and Carbamazepine (used for epilepsy and seizures), Ephedrine, and Primidone can reduce the effect of Dexasporin Injection.
It can reduce the glucose-lowering effect of insulin and blood pressure-lowering effect of medicines used for high blood pressure and certain medicines used for heart failure such as Digoxin.
The effect of coumarin, a blood thinner is reduced when used concomitantly with Dexasporin and there is a risk of bleeding. Continuous monitoring is recommended.

Storage and disposal of Dexasporin 8 MG

Store Dexasporin Injection in the original package to protect it from light.
Do not store above 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
The product should be used immediately after dilution.
Keep it away from children and pets.
Do not use Dexasporin Injection if you notice the contents are of a different coloured in any way or if particles are present.
