Molecule Description

Roxithromycin is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, urinary tract, etc. It belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics. Roxithromycin is available in the form of tablet, capsule, syrup, suspension, oral liquid, oral drops. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting roxithromycin.

Uses

Roxithromycin is used to treat bacterial infections in various parts of the body such as ear nose and throat infections, lungs & airways infection, skin infections, urinary tract infections.

Contraindications

When should one not use Roxithromycin

If you are allergic to roxithromycin or similar antibiotics (macrolide) such as azithromycin
If you have problems with your liver
If you are on any medication for migraine.

Headache
Dizziness
Nausea
Vomiting
Loss of appetite
Stomach pain
Diarrhoea

Precautions and Warnings

Pregnancy

It is not advised to take roxithromycin during pregnancy until it is considered essential by the doctor and potential risks justify the benefits.

Breast Feeding

Consult your doctor before using roxithromycin while breastfeeding as it passes into breast milk. If prescribed, watch out for dairrhoea or diaper rash in the new-born baby. If if appears, then stop the medicine and inform the doctor.

Driving

Roxithromycin may make you feel drowsy, thus you need to be cautious while driving.

Alcohol

Avoid consuming alcohol with roxithromycin, as it may worsen the side effects.

Other General Warnings
