Econazole is a medicine used in the treatment of various fungal and yeast infec
tions.
Uses of Econazole
- It is used in the treatment of infection in the vagina and the region around the vagina.
Contraindications of Econazole
When should one not use Econazole
- Allergic reaction to the medicine or any medicines of Imidazole class (e.g., Ketoconazole, Miconazole, Clotrimazole, etc.)
- Adolescents less than 16 years of age
Side effects of Econazole
Common side effects of this drug are:
- Mild rash
- Skin irritation
- Allergic symptoms like rash, burning, redness, itching of skin and swelling of lips, face or throat

Pregnancy

This medicine is not for use in the first three months of pregnancy, both as cream and vaginal pessary. It should be avoided unless specified by the doctor.
Breast Feeding

There are no adverse effects noted for using this medicine during breastfeeding. Avoid application around the nipple area and make sure that the infant's skin should not come into direct contact with the areas of skin where the infection has been treated.
