Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

^

Q: What should I inform my healthcare professional before I start treatment with this medicine?

A: You must give an account of your past and present diseases, especially diabetes and all the ongoing medications, supplements and herbal medicines that you are taking. If you take antidiabetic medication or insulin, track your blood sugar carefully while taking this medicine, particularly during the first month of its use. The combination of antidiabetic medicines when on the medicine may cause significant changes in your blood sugar levels owing to medicines interaction. Aspirin and painkillers also diminish the positive effect of the medicine on blood pressure. Hence, sharing complete history is of utmost importance.

Q: Can Telpres 20mg Tab be taken at night?

A: This medication is administered at bedtime, as opposed to morning dosing, improved the sleep time–relative blood pressure decline toward a more dipper pattern without a loss in 24-hour efficacy. Nocturnal blood pressure regulation is significantly better achieved with bedtime dosing of the medicine.

Q: Can you take ibuprofen and this medicine together?

A: Talk to your doctor before using this medicine along with ibuprofen. Combining these medications may reduce the effect of the medicine in lowering blood pressure. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications together.

Q: Is this medicine better than valsartan?

A: The blood pressure-lowering capabilities of this medicine were comparable to valsartan when taken as a single medicine. When combined with hydrochlorothiazide, this medicine was more effective than valsartan. This medicine had the same safety in the treatment of essential hypertensive patients compared with valsartan.

Q: Can I stop taking the medicine if my blood pressure is under control?

A: Please do not stop taking the medicine. Stopping it suddenly may increase your blood pressure, which could be detrimental for you. The medicine does not cure high blood pressure but controls it. So, you may have to take the medicine lifelong. Talk to your doctor if you have any concerns.

Q: Does this medicine affect blood glucose levels in people with diabetes?

A: The medicine may lower blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Therefore, a regular check on blood glucose levels is essential. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes because the dose of insulin or antidiabetic medicines may need adjustment.
