Medical Description

Accteneg-M ER tablet is a prescription combination medicine used with diet and physical activity to control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It contains metformin and teneligliptin. Metformin lowers sugar released by the liver and helps body cells respond to insulin, while teneligliptin helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high. Accteneg-M ER tablet is taken by mouth as a whole extended-release tablet, with regular blood sugar checks as advised.

Uses

  • Type 2 diabetes: Metformin reduces excess sugar released between meals, while teneligliptin supports insulin release after meals, helping adults keep blood sugar closer to target.

Overdose

Too much medicine may cause severe nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, unusual tiredness, deep or rapid breathing or low blood sugar. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

How does this medicine work?

Metformin reduces the amount of sugar released by the liver and helps the body's cells respond better to insulin. Teneligliptin increases the effect of natural hormones that help the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high and reduce sugar release from the liver. Together, these actions improve blood sugar control.

Interactions

Interactions with other medicines

Some medicines can affect the way Accteneg-M ER tablet works. Tell your doctor about all the medicines, vitamins and supplements you take. In particular, insulin and sulfonylureas can increase the risk of low blood sugar; water pills and corticosteroids can raise blood sugar; beta-blockers can hide warning signs such as a fast heartbeat; and iodine-containing contrast liquids used for scans may require special precautions with metformin.

Interactions with food items

Taking Accteneg-M ER tablet with food may reduce stomach upset. Alcohol may increase side effects and the risk of lactic acidosis, so avoid it unless your doctor says it is suitable.
