About Indocap 75

Indocap SR capsule is a painkiller medicine. It is used for the treatment of different forms of arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, strain, sprain, sports injury and other musculoskeletal pain. Indocap SR contains indomethacin which is an anti-inflammatory medicine. It helps in providing relief from pain, swelling and inflammation in bones, joints and muscles. Indocap SR improves swelling, pain, stiffness and difficulty in movement. It should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. Take Indocap SR with or after meals to avoid stomach upset. Some common side effects of the Indocap SR capsule tablet are headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain, but not everybody gets them. These side effects normally go away with time, but if you feel the side effects persist, you should consult your doctor.

Contraindications

  • If you are allergic to Indometacin or any other ingredient of Indocap SR.
  • If you have experienced asthma, running nose, swelling and rashes on skin after using any pain killer.
  • If you have ulcers or a history of frequent ulcers or bleeding in the stomach after using pain killer.
  • If you have serious heart, kidney or liver-related disorder.
  • If you have small non-cancerous outgrowth in the nose known as nasal polyps.
  • If you are in the third trimester of pregnancy.

  • You have Rheumatoid disease characterised by severe pain in the joints If you are an elderly patient.
  • You have ulcers in the digestive system.
  • You have systemic lupus erythematosus characterised by severe weakness.

  • Indocap SR 75 capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of fluid
  • They should be taken with or after food

  • Store Indocap SR capsules at room temperature away from light.
  • Keep away from children and pets.

Dosage

Overdose

Overdose of Indocap SR capsule can cause Indometacin toxicity which is characterised by severe vomiting, headache, drowsiness, ringing in the ear and stomach pain may be noticed. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

Missed a dose

If you missed any dose of Indocap SR capsule, take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Drug interactions of Indocap 75 with other medicine salt

Methotrexate

Severe

Indocap SR capsule competes with Methotrexate for the same exit route through the kidneys and reduces the blood flow they need to remove it. Methotrexate builds up to levels that damage the bone marrow, liver and kidneys.

Lithium

Severe

Indocap SR capsule blocks the natural chemicals your kidneys use to pass lithium out in the urine, and it does so more powerfully than most anti-inflammatory painkillers. Lithium levels can rise steeply into the toxic range, where lasting nerve damage happens.

Warfarin

Severe

It is not safe to take Indocap SR capsule with Warfarin, because it strips away the natural chemicals that protect your stomach lining and stops platelets clumping, while the blood thinner disables clotting behind them. Your stomach becomes both more likely to bleed and less able to stop.

Probenecid

Moderate

Probenecid blocks the kidney route that normally passes Indocap SR capsule out into your urine, so it is held on to instead. Levels rise and side effects such as stomach pain, headache and dizziness become more likely.

Prednisolone

Moderate

Prednisolone slows repair of your stomach lining while Indocap SR capsule removes the natural chemicals that protect it. Ulcers form more easily and heal more slowly, which clearly raises the risk of bleeding.

Ciclosporin

Moderate

Ciclosporin narrows the blood vessels feeding your kidneys, and Indocap SR capsule blocks the natural chemicals that would normally counteract that. Blood flow through the kidneys can fall far enough to cause injury.

Clopidogrel

Moderate

Clopidogrel stops platelets sealing small bleeds while Indocap SR capsule damages the stomach lining that would otherwise stay intact. A bleeding ulcer becomes considerably more likely than with either medicine on its own.

Ramipril

Moderate

Indocap SR capsule makes your body hold on to salt and water and narrows the vessels supplying your kidneys, working directly against Ramipril. Blood pressure control weakens and kidney injury becomes a genuine risk if you get dehydrated.

Digoxin

Moderate

Indocap SR capsule reduces your kidney function slightly, and your kidneys are what get rid of almost all of your Digoxin. Digoxin then builds up towards the range that disturbs your heart's rhythm and causes an irregular heartbeat.

Aspirin

Moderate

Aspirin and Indocap SR capsule both strip away the natural chemicals that shield your stomach lining, and Aspirin also weakens your platelets. The risk of ulcers and bleeding clearly rises with no extra pain relief in return.

Frusemide / Furosemide

Moderate

Furosemide relies on natural chemicals in your kidneys to produce its effect, and Indocap SR capsule blocks those chemicals more strongly than most anti-inflammatory painkillers. The water tablet can be substantially blunted, letting fluid build up again.
