Opdol Tablets Description

Opdol is a prescription medication. It contains a combination of medications called Tramadol and Paracetamol as its active ingredients. It is used for the management of moderate to severe pain. P

aracetamol works by blocking the formation of the chemicals responsible for fever and pain. Tramadol relieves this feeling by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain. It is essential to only take this medication on prescription by a doctor, at the exact dose and for the entire duration prescribed.

  • Management of moderate to severe pain.
  • For short term(five days or less) management of acute pain in adults.

Contraindications of Opdol Tablets

  • You have difficulty in breathing or any severe lung disease.
  • You suffer from severe bronchial asthma.
  • You suffer from known or suspected gastrointestinal obstruction, including paralytic ileus.
  • You’re younger than 12 years.
  • You suffer from biliary colic (pain related to gallstones).
  • You have a known hypersensitivity to Tramadol, Paracetamol or any related substances.
  • You suffer from uncontrolled seizures.
  • You have a substance dependence disorder.
  • You have Increased Intracranial Pressure, Brain Tumors and Head Injury.
  • Postoperative management in children younger than 18 years following tonsillectomy (removal of tonsils).

There is not enough clinical data available regarding the safety of Opdol Tab during pregnancy. This medication can only be taken during pregnancy if your physician considers it absolutely necessary. Consult your physician if you are pregnant or intend to conceive while on this medication. Prolonged use of this medication during pregnancy may cause neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome. Symptoms of this include irritability, hyperactivity and abnormal sleep pattern; high pitched cry, tremors, vomiting, diarrhoea and failure to gain weight.

Q: How long do the effects of Opdol Tab last?

A: The amount of time Opdol Tab effects last varies depending on how long you’ve been taking this medication. Usually, it may last up to 1-2 days. However, it is important to continue taking the medication for the entire duration prescribed by your physician. Abrupt stoppage may lead to precipitation of withdrawal effects.

Q: I was prescribed Opdol Plus. I have been on antidepressants for the last six months, but I did not tell my doctor. Can I continue both tablets?

A: It is necessary to always inform your doctor about any tablets you might take when any new medication is prescribed. This is especially important for pills you have been taking for a long time. Opdol Plus may interfere with antidepressants, and it is not advisable to take both these tablets together.

Q: It has been 24 hours since I took this medication, but I do not see any effects. Should I take another dose?

A: Most people taking Opdol Tab will begin to feel its effects within 30 min-1 hour of starting. However, it might take a few days for the full benefit of the medicine to be felt.
