Description
Taxim-O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine used in children to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including those of the lungs, tonsils, throat, airways, ear, and urinary tract. It is also prescribed for typhoid fever in children. This medicine is specially formulated for pediatric use and must always be given under adult supervision.
The main active ingredient in Taxim-O Dry Syrup is cefixime. It works by blocking the bacteria’s ability to form their protective cell wall, which causes the bacteria to die and helps the body recover from the infection.

Taxim-O Dry syrup is an antibiotic. It is commonly used to treat bacterial infections of the ear, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract in children. It can also be used to treat children and adolescents with uncomplicated typhoid fever. ...
Contraindications
- If your child is allergic to cefixime or any of the other ingredients of Taxim-O Dry syrup.
- If your child is allergic to any other cephalosporin antibiotics including penicillin. If you are not sure about which are these medicines ask your doctor.

Talk to your doctor if
- Your child has problems with your liver or kidney.
- Your child has severe skin adverse reactions.
- Your child has inflammation of the large intestine
- Your child ever had allergic reactions to penicillin or cephalosporins.
- Your child experiences redness of the skin followed by eruptions.
- Your child has diarrhoea or/and stomach pain even after stopping treatment with Taxim-O Dry syrup.
- Your child Is suffering from encephalopathy (fits, confusion, altered consciousness, feeling less alert).
- Your child Is suffering from a condition called haemolytic anaemia (the breakdown of red blood cells).
Directions for Use
- Give Taxim-O Dry syrup as directed by your doctor.
- Read the label carefully before using this medication.
- For reconstitution, add boiled and cooled water slightly below the mark on the bottle or as suggested by the doctor
- Shake well and make the volume up to the given mark on the bottle.
- Use a measuring cup, spoon, or dropper for the exact quantity
- Reconstituted solutions should be used within the duration mentioned on the bottle.
Storage and disposal
- Store below 25°C
- After reconstitution store in refrigerator
- Protect if from direct sunlight
- Keep it out of the reach of children

- To prepare the medication, shake the bottle well to loosen the dry powder. Next, add the sterile water that comes with this pack until it reaches the ring mark on the bottle's surface. Overdose
If you have taken too much of this medicine, seek medical care immediately, as this medicine may damage your brain (Encephalopathy).
Missed a Dose
It is advisable to complete the course of antibiotics and not miss any doses. If you have missed any dose of this medicine, take it as early as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosage schedule. Do not take a double dose of the medicine to compensate for the missed one....

How Does It Work?
Cefixime works by killing the bacteria by inhibiting the formation and growth of bacterial cell walls, which eventually leads to the death of the bacteria responsible for causing infection.

Interactions with other medicines
- Inform your doctor if your child is taking Carbamazepine (a medicine used to treat seizures)
- Medications used for thinning of the blood such as Warfarin
