Medical Description
Taxim-O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine used in children to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including those of the lungs, tonsils, throat, airways, ear, and urinary tract. It is also prescribed for typhoid fever in children. This medicine is specially formulated for pediatric use and must always be given under adult supervision.
The main active ingredient in Taxim-O Dry Syrup is cefixime. It works by blocking the bacteria’s ability to form their protective cell wall, which causes the bacteria to die and helps the body recover from the infection.
Before giving this medicine, inform your doctor if your child has any known allergy to antibiotics or has experienced allergic reactions after taking antibiotics in the past. It is also important to share details about your child’s medical history, especially if they have kidney problems, digestive disorders, or a history of severe diarrhoea after antibiotic use.
Give this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor, in the correct dose and for the full duration. Do not skip doses and never stop the medicine early, even if your child’s symptoms improve, as this may cause the infection to return and increase the risk of antibiotic resistance.
Do not use Taxim-O Dry Syrup for viral infections such as the common cold or flu, as antibiotics are not effective against viruses. For best results, measure each dose carefully using the provided measuring cup or spoon, and shake the bottle well before use.

- If your child is allergic to cefixime or any of the other ingredients of Taxim-O Dry syrup.
- If your child is allergic to any other cephalosporin antibiotics including penicillin. If you are not sure about which are these medicines ask your doctor.

Other General Warnings
- Your child has problems with your liver or kidney.
- Your child has severe skin adverse reactions.
- Your child has inflammation of the large intestine
- Your child ever had allergic reactions to penicillin or cephalosporins.
- Your child experiences redness of the skin followed by eruptions.
- Your child has diarrhoea or/and stomach pain even after stopping treatment with Taxim-O Dry syrup.
- Your child Is suffering from encephalopathy (fits, confusion, altered consciousness, feeling less alert).
- Your child Is suffering from a condition called haemolytic anaemia (the breakdown of red blood cells).
Directions for Use
- Give Taxim-O Dry syrup as directed by your doctor.
- Read the label carefully before using this medication.
- For reconstitution, add boiled and cooled water slightly below the mark on the bottle or as suggested by the doctor
- Shake well and make the volume up to the given mark on the bottle.
- Use a measuring cup, spoon, or dropper for the exact quantity
- Reconstituted solutions should be used within the duration mentioned on the bottle.
Storage and disposal

- After reconstitution store in refrigerator
- Protect if from direct sunlight
- Keep it out of the reach of children

- To prepare the medication, shake the bottle well to loosen the dry powder. Next, add the sterile water that comes with this pack until it reaches the ring mark on the bottle's surface. If needed, add more water until the volume reaches the ring mark. The exact amount of medication (in milliliters) that should be given to your child will be determined by your doctor.
- Taxim O syrup can cause diarrhoea in some children. If your child experiences diarrhoea, make sure they drink plenty of fluid to stay hydrated. Consuming ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) can also help. If diarrhoea worsens, contact your doctor immediately.
