Medical Description
Folitrax-15 Tablet is a medication containing methotrexate, used to treat various conditions. These include active rheumatoid arthritis, including juvenile forms, severe psoriasis, and severe psoriatic arthritis. It's also employed in cancer treatment, either alone or in combination with other therapies, for conditions like breast cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, mycosis fungoides, and advanced-stage non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.
Methotrexate works by modulating the immune system. In rheumatoid arthritis, it reduces inflammation and joint damage, while in psoriasis, it suppresses the overactive immune response. In cancer, it inhibits the growth of cancer cells.
Common side effects of Folitrax-15 Tablet may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, increased susceptibility to infections, tingling sensations, low white blood cell count, and mouth sores. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist.
Folitrax-15 Tablet should be taken precisely as prescribed. Daily intake beyond the recommended dosage can lead to serious toxicity. Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
This medication is contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause dizziness and fatigue, so driving while under its influence should be avoided unless you feel alert.
Regular blood tests, as well as kidney and liver function tests, may be recommended by your doctor to monitor your health. It's essential to inform your doctor about all other medications and your overall health condition to minimize the risk of potential side effects or drug interactions.

How Does It Work?
- Folitrax 15 tablet stops or reduces inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis by altering the body’s defences.
- In patients with psoriasis, Folitrax 15 tablet acts by killing the cells in the skin, which are growing too quickly. It is these fast-growing cells, which cause the raised patches of skin in psoriasis.
