Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and what causes it?
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS is a group of conditions including stomach pain and discomfort, irregular stool habits and abnormalities in stool consistency. The irregular stool habits can be constipation in some patients or diarrhea in some other patients. Signals from the brain to the intestines play an important role in digestion. Disruption of this signaling due to a variety of factors such as anxiety, stress, infections, etc. cause stiffness and unregulated contractions of the intestines resulting in the symptoms of IBS. The symptoms can be erratic – when the brain sends the signals, the intestines do not contract properly, giving rise to severe cramping pain. Sometimes the intestines may overreact, causing diarrhea or become sluggish, resulting in constipation. Stool consistency may also alter from loose/ watery to hard or lumpy or sticky. Gas and bloating of stomach, anxiety, stress, intolerance to certain foods, sleeping problems and tiredness are other common features in IBS....
Q: Does Cimetropium Bromide cure IBS?
- We cannot use the word ‘cure’ for IBS but effective treatment and symptomatic relief will help relieve anxiety and stress and it may not appear for an extended period. It may occasionally affect now and then and usually responds to treatment, life style changes and precautions. Cimetropium Bromide is an effective medicine to treat an over-reactive disorder of the intestine called Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS. This disease is associated with tightness of the muscles of the intestine, cramping pain of the stomach, constipation or loose motions and the intestine becomes sensitive and reacts to slightest irritation. It causes lesser side effects due to its unique action and relieves the severe, cramping pain commonly seen in these patients. It is more frequently used in constipation-predominant IBS. You must take medicine exactly the way the physician prescribes it. Do not alter the dose unless recommended by your doctor. Do not take it longer or shorter than advised....
