Description
Tacgo Forte Ointment contains tacrolimus. It may support the management of moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, also called eczema, when other treatments have not helped enough or are not suitable. It is for use on affected skin in adults and people aged 16 years and older when prescribed by a doctor.
How to Use
- Apply a small amount as a thin layer to the affected skin.
- Apply to clean, dry skin.
- Wash your hands before and after application, unless your hands are being treated.
- If using a moisturiser or other skin lotion, apply it 2 hours after the ointment.
- Use for the dose and duration decided by your doctor.
Features
- Tacrolimus is an immunosuppressant that may help calm allergic and inflammatory reactions in the skin.
- It works by affecting immune chemicals involved in these skin reactions.
Side Effects
- Skin irritation, burning, stinging, redness, warmth or pain may occur at the application site.
- Increased sensitivity to heat or cold, skin infections, inflamed hair follicles, acne and facial flushing after alcohol use may occur.
- Swollen lymph nodes or changes in skin colour have been reported.
Precautions and Warnings
- Do not overuse the ointment or stop use without consulting your doctor.
- Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, ears, nose and open wounds.
- Do not cover the application area with bandages, dressings or clothes.
- Avoid direct sunlight and artificial light. Wear loose protective clothing and use sunscreen outdoors.
- Avoid alcohol, as it may make the skin look more flushed.
- Do not smoke or go near naked flames, as this may increase the risk of burns.
- Tell your doctor before use if you have skin cancer, a skin infection or lesion, a weak immune system, liver or kidney problems, an autoimmune disease, swollen lymph nodes, or an inherited skin barrier problem.
- Tell your doctor if you have generalised erythroderma, a viral skin infection such as herpes or shingles, or an allergy to tacrolimus or macrolide antibiotics.
- Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- It is not recommended for children below 16 years. People aged 16 years and older should use it only if prescribed by a doctor.
- Use with caution in elderly people and have your condition reviewed once a year or as advised by your doctor.
