Medical Description

Normaxin Tablet has a combination of three different drugs. The three components of Normaxin are Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium and Dicyclomine. These help in providing relief from abdominal pain, spasms, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation in a condition called irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Irritable bowel syndrome is an inflammatory condition of the gut causing cramps in the abdomen, diarrhoea or constipation, bloating and gas. Normaxin causes relaxation of the muscles of the gut and provides relief from pains and cramps. It also reduces gastric secretions and helps in reducing pain associated with peptic ulcers. Apart from irritable bowel syndrome, Normaxin tablets are used to treat several other conditions such as anxiety, insomnia, motion sickness, and peptic ulcer disease. The treatment for each of these conditions should be taken as advised by the doctor.

Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

The three ingredients in Normaxin tablets work together to provide relief from painful spasms of the abdomen and the anxiety associated with these conditions. Normaxin is composed of Chlordiazepoxide, Clidinium, and Dicyclomine. Chlordiazepoxide is a sedative-hypnotic. It acts on excessive activity in the brain and produces a calming effect by binding certain chemicals in the brain. It alleviates anxiety-related recurrent abdominal spasms in irritable bowel syndrome. It is also used to reduce the effects of alcohol withdrawal. Clidinium is an anticholinergic drug and has antispasmodic action. It acts by blocking the secretions of certain chemicals in the smooth muscles, thereby providing relief from abdominal spasms and cramps. It is also used to relieve pain in peptic ulcer disease. Dicyclomine acts by relaxing the muscles in the intestines and slows down the movements of the intestinal tract, thereby bringing relief from muscle pain in the abdomen.
