Medical Description
Doxt-SL capsule is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the chest, lungs, nose, kidneys, bladder, skin, eye, rickets and sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhoea or syphilis. You should always complete the entire course of treatment with antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor. Do not miss any dose or take more than the prescribed dose.
Doxt-SL contains a combination of doxycycline and lactobacillus as its active ingredients. Doxycycline prevents the growth and reproduction of bacteria that cause infections, while lactobacillus helps maintain the normal bacterial flora of the gut.
It is important to take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor and not to take more than the recommended dose. Additionally, do not stop taking this medicine alone, and always complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if you start to feel better, to prevent the infection from returning.
Other capsules with doxycycline and lactobacillus include Doxy 1 L Dr Forte capsule, Microdox Lbx capsule, Doxybond Lb capsule, Nixidox capsule, and Doxol Lb capsule. Doxt-SL capsule should only be used when you are sure that the infection is caused by bacteria. Self-medication is not recommended as the unnecessary use of antibiotics can make them ineffective for future treatments.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Also, tell your doctor about your detailed medical history and all the medicines and supplements you are taking. Doxt-SL capsules should not be used in children under 8 years of age as they can cause tooth discolouration.

- You have liver or kidney-related disorders.
- You are suffering from any sexually transmitted diseases.
- You have an autoimmune muscle disorder, myasthenia gravis, which causes muscle weakness.
- You experience severe allergic reactions after taking this medicine.
- You have benign intracranial hypertension, a type of brain disorder characterized by a severe headache.
- You have an infection or inflammation in the food pipe (oesophagitis).
- You experience severe diarrhoea after taking Doxt SL capsule.
- You have porphyria, a blood disorder characterized by severe abdominal pain.
- You have systemic lupus erythematosus, characterized by weakness and joint pain.
- You experience Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction, characterized by fever, chill, increased heartbeat, and headache.

- Before starting Doxt-SL capsule, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding. Also, inform about all other medicines you take and your complete medical history.
- Do not take any medicine on your own without confirming with your doctor during treatment with Doxt-SL capsule.
- This medicine should not be given to children under 8 years of age without a doctor’s advice as it may cause permanent tooth discolouration.
- Avoid direct sunlight or UV exposure while taking Doxt-SL capsules. Notify your doctor if you experience any skin reactions.

- If you missed any dose of Doxt-SL capsule, take it as soon as you remember.
- If it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule.
- Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Interactions
Interactions with other medicines
- Inform your doctor about all the medicines, herbs, or supplements you are taking to avoid any possible interaction.
- In particular, antacids containing aluminium, calcium or magnesium, cyclosporin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, etc, if taken along with this medicine, can alter the action of Doxt-SL capsules.
- This medicine can alter the action of certain antibiotics, oral contraceptives, etc. An alternative contraceptive measure should be used while using Doxt-SL capsules with oral contraceptives.
- Blood thinners like warfarin, when used with this medicine, can increase the risk of bleeding.
- The use of methoxyflurane, an anaesthetic with this medicine, can result in toxicity in the kidney.
- The use of medicines like isotretinoin along with Doxt-SL should be avoided as there is a risk of getting side effects.
