Quetigress 25 mg tablet is an atypical antipsychotic used in the treatment of mood disorders like Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. Its active ingredient is Quetiapine, which belongs to a group of
medicines called atypical antipsychotics. It stabilises the mood by reducing the levels of serotonin and dopamine (natural chemical messengers) in the brain. Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings having emotional highs (mania) and lows (depression), and affects one's sleep, behaviour, ability to think clearly, judgement and energy. Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Quetigress 25 mg tablet is a prescription medicine. Your doctor decides the dose and duration of the tablet. The common side effects of Quetigress 25 mg tablet are somnolence, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, weight gain, liver function alterations, fall in blood pressure and dyspepsia (indigestion). The family members and caregivers should be warned to observe patients daily for unusual changes in behaviour, especially in the initial few months of treatment or at the time of increasing or decreasing the doses. Development of serious allergic reactions or neuroleptic malignant syndrome (fever, muscle rigidity, confusion, excessive sweating and fits) while on medicine should prompt immediate discontinuation.

Other General Warnings
- You develop a severe allergic reaction to the medicine like neuroleptic malignant syndrome (excessive sweating, fever, muscle rigidity, confusion and fits).
- You develop side effects like abnormal movement disorders (tardive dyskinesia).
- You experience persistent side effects (trouble sleeping, behavioural changes, panic attacks or irritability).
- You have a history of mental illness (depression) or fits or a history of stroke (paralysis).
- You have liver, kidney, heart or thyroid problems.
- You are above 65 years of age and have dementia (memory loss)
- You have a history of high blood sugar levels (diabetes) or high cholesterol levels.
- You have a history of alcoholism.
- You want to discontinue the medicine. Sudden stoppage of the medicine should be avoided. The medicine needs to be slowly tapered by your doctor.
- You are pregnant or planning to conceive or are a nursing mother.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Quetigress 25 MG
- Take Quetigress 25 mg tablet as directed by your doctor.
- Do not change the dose on your own.
- Swallow Quetigress 25 mg tablet with or without food, preferably at the same time daily.
- Talk to your doctor if you feel the need to stop the medicine.
Interactions of Quetigress 25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Ketoconazole and Itraconazole (treat fungal infections) increase the side effects of Quetigress by increasing its blood levels.
- Phenytoin and carbamazepine(controlling fits) decrease blood levels of Quetigress, thus hampering its beneficial effect.
- Quetigress may enhance the effects of certain antihypertensive medications (used to treat high blood pressure)
- Quetigress might antagonise (oppose) the action of Levodopa (used to treat Parkinson's disease)

- Quetigress 25 mg tablets can be taken with or without food. Consult your doctor for more information. The medicine can cause weight gain when taken for a long time as its side effect, hence eat healthy....
