Medical Description
Freedase 30 tablet is a combined oral contraceptive containing two hormones ethinyl estradiol and dienogest which is used in the prevention of pregnancy. Take this tablet one every day as directed by your doctor. Some common side effects observed on taking this medicine are headache, enlargement of the breast, and bleeding between periods may occur.
This medicine may increase the risk of blood clots and thus should be used with caution in those who have a tendency or history of blood clots. Freedase 30 tablet is not recommended in women over 35 years of age and who smoke, as cigarette smoking increases the risk of serious heart-related problems. This medicine should not be given to women whose BMI is below 30 kg/m2.
Stop Freedase 30 immediately if you become pregnant or experience heavy uterine bleeding. Freedase 30 can also be used to regularise periods, reduce the heavy blood flow and pain during the menstrual cycle and treat acne caused due to hormonal imbalance

- Freedase 30 tablet is used as a birth control pill (oral contraceptive)
- Can also be effective in treatment of severe acne, and regularise painful and heavy periods
Contraindications
- If you are allergic to dienogest and/or ethinyl estradiol or any other ingredient in Freedase 30.
- If you have or ever have had blood clot in your legs (deep vein thrombosis),in your lungs (pulmonary embolism) or other organs
- If you have disorders that affect your blood clotting
- If you have undergone any surgery due to which you cannot walk
- If you have had heart attack or stroke or its symptoms like severe chest pain, jaw pain
- If you are suffering from disorders like high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high levels of homocysteine all of which make you prone for clots in your blood vessels
- If you suffer from a type of migraine known as migraine with aura
- If you have or ever had a liver tumour or any form of liver disease
- If you have breast cancer or cancer of the female reproductive organs
- If you have unexplained bleeding from the vagina( female reproductive part) or you lack periods (amenorrhea)

- You have abnormal bleeding from the uterus
- You suffer from mood swings
- You are suffering from fits, inflammation of the intestines(inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis), inherited disease of red blood cells ( sickle cell anaemia), elevated levels of fat in the blood (hypertriglyceridemia) or positive family history for this condition, inflammation of the veins (superficial thrombophlebitis), a blood disorder that lead to blood clotting that leads to kidney failure (haemolytic uraemic syndrome), a disorder of body's immune system (systemic lupus erythematosus SLE), dark swollen veins (varicose veins)
- You have disease conditions like hearing loss, porphyria (a disease of the blood), gestational herpes (skin rash with blisters during pregnancy), Sydenham’s chorea (a nerve disease causing sudden movements of the body), that developed on previous use of sex hormones
- You have suffered from a skin condition of golden white patches on the skin known as pregnancy patches (or chloasma when developed on the face)
- You are on the following medications carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampicin, and St. John’s wort, as these decrease the efficiency of Freedase 30 tablet
- You have missed the dose for more than 7 days
Directions for Use
- Take Freedase 30 tablet one everyday for the span of 21 days
- Once the pack is over, your next pack generally starts between day 2 and day 5 of your menstrual cycle. Please consult your doctor before use
- Take the medicine as a whole with a glass of water
Storage and disposal
- Store Freedase 30 tablets at room temperature(10-30°C) in a cool and dry place.
- Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Quick Tips
- Freedase 30mcg tablet is a female hormonal pill. It is used as an oral contraceptive pill to prevent pregnancy.
- It can also be effective in the treatment of severe acne, and regularise painful and heavy periods
- This medicine should not be used for treating any other condition unless specified by the doctor.
- Take Freedase 30mcg tablet at the same time every day, preferably with food or after a meal, to reduce the risk of stomach upset.
- If you miss a tablet, take it as soon as you remember and take the next tablet at the regular time. If you miss more than one tablet, consult your healthcare provider.
- Freedase 30mcg tablet does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Use a barrier method such as condoms to reduce the risk of STIs.
- Freedase 30mcg tablet should not be used during pregnancy, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Also, inform your doctor about all other medicines that you take and your complete medical history.
- Headache, weight changes, abdominal pain, breast pain, mood swings, and nausea/vomiting may occur in some individuals with the use of this medicine. Inform your doctor if these effects bother you or do not go away.
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of blood clots or liver disease, you are over 35 years of age or suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol problems, or any other medical conditions before taking Freedase 30mcg tablet.

Interactions with other medicines
- Concomitant use of Freedase 30 tablet along with medicines used in treatment of fits (e.g. primidone, phenytoin, barbiturates, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, topiramate, felbamate), tuberculosis (e.g. rifampicin), HIV and Hepatitis C Virus infections (so-called protease inhibitors and nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors such as ritonavir, nevirapine, efavirenz), fungal infections (e.g. griseofulvin, ketoconazole),products containing St. John's wort, verapamil, macrolides (for example, clarithromycin, erythromycin), diltiazem and penicillin antibiotics like ampicillin and dicloxacillin affect the serum concentration of Freedase 30 tablet and increase the risk of untimely bleeding.
- Freedase 30 tablet reduces the efficiency of medicine lamotrigine (used for fits) and increases the frequency of fits
- The efficacy of medicines used to suppress immune system (ciclosporins) is decreased when used along with Freedase 30 tablet
- Women who are taking medicines for their thyroid hormone need an increase in dosage when concomitantly using Freedase 30 mcg
- The use of contraceptive steroids may influence the results of certain laboratory tests, including biochemical parameters of liver, thyroid, adrenal and renal function, plasma levels of (carrier) proteins.
