How Does It Work?

It inhibits the production of ergosterol which is the main component of the cell membrane of the fungus. Hence stops the growth of fungus and inhibits the fungal infection.

  • Do not break, chew or crush the capsule. Swallow it as a whole.

Interactions with other medicines

  • Medicines used to treat acidity (Antacids) like ranitidine, cimetidine or omeprazole (avoid atleast till two hours after taking itraconazole medicine)
  • Medicines used in high cholesterol treatment (HMG Co-A reductase inhibitors like atorvastatin, simvastatin, rosuvastatin, pravastatin)
  • Medicines used to treat GI tract motility (Cisapride)
  • Midazolam, triazolam
  • Medicines used to treat blood clots (Anticoagulants like warfarin or dabigatran)
  • Medicines used to treat heart problems (Digoxin, Calcium channel blockers)
  • Medicines used to treat blood disorders, severe allergic reactions (Methyl prednisolone)
  • If you are using medicines like ciclosporin, tacrolimus which are used after organ transplant
