Atarax Inj is an injectable drug prescribed for the treatment of allergic reactions. It belongs to the class known as antihistamines.
Uses of Atarax Inj
Atarax Inj uses include treatment to alleviate itching caused by allergies, urticaria, sneezing and running nose.
Contraindications of Atarax Inj
Do not take this medicine if you have an allergy to hydroxyzine, cetirizine and other piperazine derivatives. avoid use in case of an allergy to aminophylline or ethylenediamine. Also, this medicine is contraindicated in patients who have certain cardiac problems or a low pulse rate, reduced levels of potassium or magnesium in the body, family history of heart disease and if they are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Side effects of Atarax Inj
Atarax Inj side effects include drowsiness, tremors, upset stomach, headaches, dryness in mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, constipation, skin rash, low blood pressure, restless muscle movements in eyes or tongue or jaw or neck, convulsions, cough and confusion

Can I take this medicine during pregnancy?
Atarax Inj can cause harm to the foetus in a pregnant woman. Hence, it is not recommended during pregnancy.
Can I take Atarax Inj while breastfeeding?

- bacterial infections (e.g. the antibiotics such as erythromycin, moxifloxacin, levofloxacin)
- heart diseases or hypertension (e.g. amiodarone, quinidine, disopyramide, sotalol)
- psychoses (e.g. haloperidol)
- depression (e.g. citalopram, escitalopram)
- malaria (e.g. mefloquine)
- cancer (e.g. toremifene, vandetanib)

Storage and disposal of Atarax Inj
Store this medicine at or below 25°C. Keep it away from children. Do not store the unutilised portion of opened vials for later use. If the medication has expired, ask your pharmacist about its disposal method. This medication should not be disposed of via any wastewater.
Dosage of Atarax Inj
Overdose of this medicine is unlikely as it is usually given under the supervision of your doctor in a hospital. However, overdose may cause symptoms such as unconsciousness, slowing the activity of central nervous system, nausea and vomiting. Take immediate medical attention in such an event.
