- As per CDSCO, Stalopam 5 mg tablet is used for:
- Managing the symptoms of major depressive disorders (persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest in life)
- Treatment of panic disorders (type of an anxiety disorder), with or without agoraphobia (fear of open and crowded places)
Contraindications of Stalopam 5 MG
- Do not take Stalopam 5 mg tablets, or take with caution:
- If you are allergic to any of the components of the Stalopam 5 mg tablet.
- If you are using other antidepressant medications; combined with this medicine, it can cause exaggerated side effects.
- If you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
- If you are breastfeeding.
- If you have a history of addictive tendencies; this medicine may cause psychological dependency.
- If you are already using other anti-anxiety medicines or sedatives; they can interfere with the functioning of this medicine and cause adverse reactions.
- If you have angle-closure glaucoma.
- If you have liver disease.

Directions for Use of Stalopam 5 MG

- Do not chew or break this tablet.
- To avoid medicine interactions, do not use Stalopam 5 mg tablets with other medications without informing your doctor.
- Do not discontinue this medication abruptly, as it causes unwanted withdrawal effects.

Interactions with other medicines
- Take caution if you use other anti-anxiety and mood disorder medications such as linezolid, moclobemide, selegiline, etc. These, in combination with Stalopam 5 mg tablets, can cause severe reactions.
- Using aspirin with this medicine can increase bleeding.
- If you have bleeding issues or are on a blood thinner, Stalopam 5 mg tablets can increase bleeding.
- Do not take other medicines that cause drowsiness, such as medicines for allergy (cetirizine), cold and cough (diphenhydramine), opiates or narcotic pain relievers (codeine and tramadol) with Stalopam 5 mg tablets. This can increase the side effects and cause extreme drowsiness....
- If you are using anti-epileptic medicines for seizure disorders, inform your doctor as they can increase the side effects of Stalopam 5 mg tablets.
