P Zide 1 G Description

P Zide Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs. The active component of the P Zide Tablet is pyrazinamide. Pyrazinam

ide is usually combined with other antibiotics to treat tuberculosis. It controls the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of cell membranes. This medicine should be taken at a dose prescribed by the doctor. You should not discontinue the medication as it can increase the severity of the infection. It can improve the resistance of the bacteria to antimicrobials if the medicine is not taken for the complete duration. Some side effects of the medicine include nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. Most of the side effects are mild and should not affect your day-to-day activities. However, side effects like yellowing of skin and eyes, joint pain, and skin rash may indicate damage to the liver. Hence, evaluation of the liver enzymes should be done at regular intervals.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

^

Q: Does P Zide cause gout?

A: Yes. Gout is a condition in which there is excessive deposition of uric acid in the joints. Pyrazinamide is broken down into several metabolites before it is excreted out. One of the metabolites decreases the excretion of uric acid. Hence uric acid accumulates in the joints leading to gout. Gout is characterised by swelling, pain, and redness on the joint.

Q: Is P Zide Tablet enough to fight tuberculosis?

A: P Zide Tablet is taken along with other antibiotics to treat tuberculosis. A combination of all the antibiotics can effectively control the infection. Using only one antibiotic can increase the chances of antimicrobial resistance; hence a combination of medicines is used.

Q: Can birth pills be used with P Zide Tablets?

A: P Zide Tablets decrease the efficacy of birth control pills. Alternative methods of contraceptives like condoms or diaphragms should be used.
