- Treatment of bipolar disorder
- Treatment of schizophrenia
- Treatment of mania
- Treatment of hypomania
- Treatment of major depressive disorder
- Treatment of vascular headaches
- Treatment of neutropenia
Contraindications
- If you have a severe allergy to lithium or other ingredients of Lithosun 400 mg Tablet.
- If you have renal impairment.
- If you have been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease.
- If you are pregnant.
- If you are lactating.
- If you have been diagnosed with Addison's disease.
Side effects
- Restlessness
- Abnormal hand movements
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss or gain
- Dry mouth
- Acne
- Hair loss
- Constipation

Other General Warnings
- You have diabetes.
- You are on haloperidol(antipsychotic medicine), as this can lead to some serious side effects.
- Your hands feel shaky during the therapy as the blood lithium levels might have gone higher than recommended.
- You conceive or are planning a pregnancy during the course of medication.
- You experience persistent or worsening side effects.
- Have sufficient intake of fluids and salt while you are on this medication.
- Your doctor may prescribe kidney and thyroid function tests before starting Lithosun Tablet.
- Keep a check on your weight before as Lithosun Tablet leads to weight gain.
- Drink plenty of fluids if you are feeling feverish.
- Do not forget to tell your doctor if you are taking medicines like Metronidazole, methyldopa, phenytoin, carbamazepine, ibuprofen etc.
Directions for Use
- The dose of Lithosun 400 mg Tablet will be decided by your doctor as per your age and other comorbid conditions.
- Take this medicine at the same time each day.

Interactions with other medicines
- Diuretics like acetazolamide ( it is used for the treatment of diseases like glaucoma, by decreasing the amount of fluid in the eye. Lithium can reduce the concentration of acetazolamide by increasing its elimination in kidneys).
- Captopril ( it is an important medicine in the treatment of hypertension. Studies have shown that captopril could decrease the elimination of lithium in kidneys and thereby lead to lithium intoxication).
- Enalapril ( the reason is the same as mentioned for captopril as both belong to the same class of medicine).

- You need to follow a proper diet as per the advice of your doctor. Make sure you have a sufficient amount of salt and fluids. Avoid caffeine-containing products like coffee, tea, etc., with Lithosun 400 mg Tablet. Try to avoid a low salt diet.
