- Treatment of Depression
Contraindications
- Some people may be hypersensitive or have an allergy towards medicines from the class of benzodiazepines or tricyclic antidepressant medicines including active ingredients like amitriptyline, chlordiazepoxide or other inactive substances present in the medication.
- Patients should exercise caution if they are taking medications that belong to the monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) class. These medications are used to treat depression. Patients can experience increased side effects and life-threatning situations if they take MAOIs and Libotryp together. It is advised to begin therapy with this medicine after a patient stops taking an antidepressant from the MAOIs class while maintaining a gap of at least 14 days between the two.
- If you have a history of heart attacks in recent times or are recovering from it, the medication is not recommended for such cases.
- If you are suffering from serious heart conditions or cardiovascular diseases that lead to an increase in QT interval. Taking Libotryp can increase the risk of worsening the condition.
- If you have angle-closure glaucoma, a condition in which the iris of the eye bulges forward and narrows the drainage angle. Libotryp can worsen the condition.

- If you feel pressure in your eyes:
- Glaucoma patients should be monitored while taking Libotryp XL 25mg.
- Patients with glaucoma have an increased risk of developing adverse side effects.
- You have Bipolar Disorder
- Patients who have a history of bipolar disorder or are suffering from the condition should use the medication with extreme caution since it can lead to worsening of the condition. Talk to your doctor and tell them about any history of the condition before taking the medicine. Based on the clinical condition alternative medications can be given.
- You have Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
- This medication needs to be used with caution if there is a history of the enlarged prostate gland. Libotryp can cause the condition to worsen. Any unusual incident needs to report to the doctor on priority and dosages should be adjusted based on the clinical condition of the patient.
- Withdrawal Symptoms
- Suddenly discontinuing the medication might increase the risk of experiencing adverse side effects in a patient. Especially, if the medicine has been used for a long time. It is recommended to taper the dosage over a period of time to avoid these reactions. The patient should not stop taking Libotryp without the advice of a doctor.
- Children:
- Libotryp XL 25mg is not recommended in children below the age of 18 years.
Directions for Use
- Take Libotryp as and when directed by your health provider.
- Do not try to chew or break the tablet since that can reduce the efficacy of Libotryp.
- You can take Libotryp before or after eating food.
- You can swallow Libotryp as a whole with a glass of water.
- Please take Libotryp at the same time every day. This will ensure that a constant level of medication is maintained in the blood. You can also set a daily reminder to avoid the chances of missing the medication .
- Do not take Libotryp XL 25mg for more time than what is recommended by the doctor since Libotryp is mildly habit-forming.
- Do not stop taking Libotryp without consulting your doctor.

- Ondansetron (prevents nausea and vomiting)
- Opioids (painkillers such as Vicodin, morphine)
- Antihypertensives (medications used to manage hypertension)
- Phenylephrine (medication used as vasoconstrictor and nasal decongestant)
- Fluoxetine (antidepressant)
- Clozapine (antipsychotic medicine used to treat schizophrenia)
- Linezolid (antibiotic to treat serious bacterial infections)
- Cisapride (medication to treat heartburn in patients with gastroesophageal)

- Food doesn’t influence the effect of Libotryp XL 25mg. Before using Libotryp XL 25mg talk to your health provider about any supplements or herbal drinks you are currently taking.
