Interactions with other medicines

  • Dibeta GB can interact with carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, which is used for glaucoma and can cause lactic acidosis
  • It is not advisable to use this medication with bosentan, which can elevate the liver enzymes
  • Diuretics, when used with Dibeta GB, can cause hyperglycemia
  • NSAIDs, when given with metformin, it increases the risk of lactic acidosis
  • Inhibitors of organic cation transporters 1, such as verapamil, may reduce the efficacy of metformin
  • Inducers of organic cation transporters 1, such as rifampicin, increase gastrointestinal absorption and the effectiveness of metformin
  • H2 antagonists and beta-blockers may lead to either potentiation or weakening of the blood-glucose-lowering effect
  • Concomitant use of carbonic anhydrase inhibitor with Dibeta GB tablet increases the risk for lactic acidosis
