Description

Cipladine Ointment is a commonly used medication for treating and preventing skin infections in minor injuries such as burns, deep cuts (lacerations), simple cuts, and scrapes (abrasions). The ointment contains Povidone-Iodine as its active ingredient, which is an antiseptic and disinfectant. It works by killing bacteria and preventing infection in affected areas. Uses

Cipladine ointment is used to treat infected wounds, cuts and ulcers on the skin.

How Does it Work

Cipladine ointment contains Povidone-Iodine. It kills the microorganisms by the iodination of lipids present on the outer layer of the cell membrane, ultimately killing the microorganisms. It is effective against a wide range of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Contraindications

Consult a doctor:

If you are allergic to iodine, polyvinyl pyrrolidone or any of the other ingredients present in this cream, do not use this cream

If you have thyroid problems such as goitre or Hashimoto's disease (a thyroid disease).

If you are on Lithium therapy to treat any psychiatric illness.

If your child is less than 2 years old.

Side Effects

Rash, itching or burning sensation at the area where Cipladine ointment is applied.

How to Use

Cipladine ointment should be used as directed by your doctor.

It is meant for external use only.

Read the instructions on the label before usage.

Wash your hands before and after using this ointment unless your hands are the area to be treated.

Avoid touching the tip of the container directly to the infected area. In case your eyes come in contact with this ointment, rinse your eyes with clean water immediately.
