Mode of Action

How Does It Work?

Prostodin has carboprost as an active ingredient, a synthetic prostaglandin. Prostaglandins (a hormone-like substance that occurs naturally in the body) help control functions in the body, such as blood pressure and muscle contractions. It binds the prostaglandin E2 receptor, causing uterine contractions, causing the induction of labour or the expulsion of the placenta. Prostaglandins occur naturally and act at several places in the body, including womb (uterus). They act on the muscles of the womb, pushing them to contract.
