Uses
- Conscious sedation during minor surgical procedures
- Conscious sedation during diagnostic procedures
- Relieves anxiety
- Reduces pain and discomfort
- Emergency treatment for increased seizure activity
Contraindications
- If you are hypersensitive towards benzodiazepines or other substances present in the medication.
- If you have a severe respiratory insufficiency.
- If you have a severe hepatic impairment.
- If you have acute narrow-angle glaucoma, have sleep apnoea syndrome.
- If you have myasthenia gravis, a neuromuscular condition in which muscles reach fatigue quickly.

- You have respiratory depression.
- Patients with a history of respiratory depression should use the drug with extreme caution since Midacip can increase the risk of worsening the symptoms. Based on the clinical condition of a patient, the doctor can suggest a suitable alternative.
- You have congestive heart failure.
- Patients with a history of congestive heart failure should use the drug with caution since the condition can slow down the elimination of the drug and worsen the condition.
- You have depression.
- Patients with depression should use the drug with caution since it can worsen a patient's condition. Patients should be monitored for changes in behaviour and mood.
- You are overweight or have obesity.
- Midacip should be used with caution in obese patients due to an increased risk of side effects.
Directions for Use
- Take this medication as and when directed by your doctor.
- Check the label present on the bottle of Midacip for directions before using it.
- Take Midacip by inserting the bottle tip into one nostril while holding the other nostril close.
- Direct the spray towards the side of your nose and away from the mid cartilage that divides the nostrils.
- While spraying, Midacip breathes in gently and keep your head upright.
- Repeat the process for the other nostril too.
- You can take Midacip with or without food.
- Take the medication at a fixed time to avoid missing dosages.
Storage and disposal

Overdose
- An overdose of Midacip should not result in any life-threatening condition unless the person has a pre-existing respiratory or cardiac condition. It can further cause vomiting in an hour of consumption, or gastric lavage can be given. In mild cases of overdose, symptoms such as mental confusion, ataxia, hypotension can be expected. Consult your doctor in an emergency.
