Medical Description

Zentel tablet is an anti-worm medicine. It is used in the treatment of parasitic worm infections of the intestine and other body parts. Zentel tablet contains albendazole as its active component. Zentel tablet works by killing the infection-causing worms and parasites and stops the infection from spreading. The dose and duration of the treatment with the Zentel tablet will be decided by your doctor after a complete assessment of your medical condition. Zentel tablets should be taken after a meal. Parasites are worms that live in our bodies that use our bodies for food. They can cause many problems such as abdominal (belly) pain, fever and diarrhoea. You can get infected by them from contaminated food or water, a bug bite or sexual contact.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to albendazole or any other components of Zentel tablet.
If you are allergic to Benzimidazole class of medicines like Mebendazole.
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant.

Driving

Zentel tablet may make you feel dizzy. Thus, you should be cautious while driving or operating machines if you experience dizziness.

Alcohol

You are suffering from fits or seizures.

Zentel tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Do not cut, break or chew the medicine. It should preferably be taken with food. If you missed any dose of Zentel tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Medicines used to reduce stomach acidity (antacids) like Cimetidine, medicines used to treat fits or seizure (anti-seizure) like Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Phenobarbital, medicines used to treat worm infections (Praziquantel), medicines used to suppress the immune response (Dexamethasone), medicines used to treat HIV/ AIDS (Ritonavir) should be used with caution along with Zentel tablet.
