Medical DescriptionMedical Description

Candid cream is a topical antifungal medicine used to treat yeast infections of the skin, vagina, ear and ringworm infections. It contains clotrimazole as its main ingredient. A few other creams with clotrimazole as their composition are Candid Gold 1% cream, Surfaz 1% cream, Clocip cream, Imidil cream, and Clozol 1% cream.

Candid cream is meant only for external application and should be applied exactly as recommended by your doctor. Make sure to wash your hands both before and after using this medication, unless your hands are being treated.

You may experience some application site reactions as side effects, but they normally fade away with time. Please report to your doctor if you notice the side effects persist or worsen. Before using Candid cream, please discuss with your doctor if you have any other skin conditions.

Candid cream kills fungal cells by altering the permeability of their cell wall. It binds to phospholipids in the cell membrane and inhibits certain processes required for cell membrane production. This leads to cell death via loss of intracellular elements.

Candid cream side effects are itching, irritation, burning at site of application, blistering & rash. Talk to your doctor immediately if you experience any of them.

The doctor will inform you how many times the cream needs to be used in the course of a day. The patient must not exceed this limit.

No, you should not stop using Candid cream midway. Continue its application till the end of the course. If the course is stopped abruptly, the infection might return. Stopping the course midway may cause the cream might to be less effective against the infection-causing agents.

Do not use this cream if your condition is not diagnosed by a doctor, as it is useful in the treatment of fungal infections. Avoid self-medication.

Candid cream composition includes 1% of clotrimazole.

There are different brands having the same composition as Candid cream. However, it is advised to take the recommended brand only.

Your doctor will decide the duration of the application for Candid cream. Do not stop applying this cream on your own. If there is no improvement in your infection, consult with your doctor.
