Medical Description
Candid cream is a topical antifungal medicine used to treat yeast infections of the skin, vagina, ear and ringworm infections. It contains clotrimazole as its main ingredient. A few other creams with clotrimazole as their composition are Candid Gold 1% cream, Surfaz 1% cream, Clocip cream, Imidil cream, and Clozol 1% cream.
Candid cream is meant only for external application and should be applied exactly as recommended by your doctor. Make sure to wash your hands both before and after using this medication, unless your hands are being treated.
You may experience some application site reactions as side effects, but they normally fade away with time. Please report to your doctor if you notice the side effects persist or worsen. Before using Candid cream, please discuss with your doctor if you have any other skin conditions.
Uses
Candid cream is used for the treatment of fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, fungal nappy rash and fungal sweat rash.
Contraindications
If you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the components of Candid cream.
Side effects
Candid cream can sometimes cause application site reactions like skin irritation, rashes, redness, itching or blisters.

Avoid Candid cream if there is a known allergic reaction to Candid cream.

Do not swallow the cream and avoid contact with your eyes.
Both purposeful and accidental application of this medicine into the eyes should be avoided.
How Does It Work?
Candid cream kills fungal cells by altering the permeability of their cell wall. It binds to phospholipids in the cell membrane and inhibits certain processes required for cell membrane production. This leads to cell death via loss of intracellular elements.
Directions for Use
Use Candid cream as directed by your doctor.
It is meant for external use only.
The dosage and length of treatment depend on the type of infection to be treated.
Ensure the area is cleaned and dried before application.
Apply it on the healthy skin surface free from cuts and wounds.
Wash your hands before and after using this medicine unless your hands are the area to be treated.
Interactions with other medicines
Since Candid cream is to be applied to the skin, it is less likely to interact with other medicines. However, it is not advisable to use any other cream or ointment at the affected site if Candid cream is applied. You should always consult your doctor if you are taking other medicines for treating other health conditions.

Store Candid cream at room temperature, keep away from direct sunlight.
Keep away from pets and children.
Overdose
As Candid cream is meant for external application cases of overdose are unlikely. However, upon accidental ingestion contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital. If you have applied extra quantities of it wipe out the excess of the medicine with tissue or cotton.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed applying Candid cream, apply it as soon as possible. Do not overapply this medicine just to compensate for the missed dose.
