Zolpirest is a prescription medication. It is used in the short term management of insomnia or sleeplessness. The active component of Zolpirest is Zolpidem (10mg). Insomnia is a condition characteri

Contraindications of Zolpirest 10 MG
- It is contraindicated in patients with known zolpidem hypersensitivity or known allergies to any components in this medication.
- This medication should not be used in patients with any lung condition that results in difficulty in breathing or obstructive sleep apnea (a condition associated with snoring or trouble breathing while sleeping)....
- It is contraindicated for use in children.
- This medication should not be used in patients with a known history of psychotic symptoms.
- It is contraindicated in patients with liver failure.
- It should not be used in patients with Myasthenia Gravis, a condition affecting muscles and respiration.
- It is contraindicated in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

How Does It Work?
Directions for Use of Zolpirest 10 MG
- This medication should be taken as prescribed by the treating physician.
- It is recommended to take this medication on a regular schedule, i.e., at the same time every day, for optimal pharmacological effects of this medication.
- Swallow this medication as a whole. Do not crush, chew or break this tablet.
- If symptoms do not improve within 7-10 days of usage, inform your doctor immediately.
- Take this medication before food. The absorption of Zolpidem is decreased by taking it with or immediately after food.
- Abrupt stoppage of Zolpirest can cause withdrawal side effects. Consult your doctor before stopping this medication.
- Driving/ use of heavy machinery is not advised while using this medication.
- Do not mix alcohol with this medication, as it can be life-threatening.
- This medication has habit-forming tendencies. Hence it is recommended to follow the directions of your treating physician precisely and have regular follow-ups.
Interactions of Zolpirest 10 MG
Interactions with other medicines
- Combined use with central nervous system depressants like alcohol causes increased psycho-motor side effects.
- The use of zolpidem with Imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, decreases one's alertness.
- Impaired alertness is observed in patients who use zolpidem and chlorpromazine.
- The concomitant use of Rifampin and Zolpidem decreases the efficacy of the latter.
- Concomitant use of Ketoconazole and Zolpidem can decrease the efficacy of zolpidem.
- The concomitant use of this medication with opioids (like morphine, tramadol etc.) is contraindicated, as it may cause respiratory depression, coma and death.
- Inform your doctor regarding your current medications at the time of prescription of Zolpirest.
