Silverex Ionic Gel

• If you are allergic to silver nitrate or other ingredients of Silverex Ionic gel.
• Do not self-treat deep, extensive or seriously bleeding wounds with this product. Follow your doctor's instructions for the specific wound.

• Burning or stinging when the gel is applied
• Irritation or redness at the site
• Itching

• Rash at or around the treated area
• Dryness or peeling of the surrounding skin
• Temporary staining or discolouration of the skin at the site

• Signs of a spreading wound infection: increasing pain, spreading redness, swelling or warmth, pus or a bad smell, a red streak running away from the wound, or a fever
• Signs of an allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips or throat, difficulty breathing, a widespread rash or hives
• A blue-grey discolouration of the skin, which can be permanent and is a reason to stop the product and see your doctor
• A wound that is getting worse, or is not healing as expected

Other General Warnings

• You experience an allergic reaction or sensitivity after applying the product.
• Do not use Silverex Ionic gel on children and infants without consulting a doctor.
• Don't use the medicine for prolonged periods, on large areas, or on deep wounds unless your doctor specifically directs you to.
• You have a burn that is large or blistered, or on the face, hands, feet or genitals.
• You have diabetes, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system, as wounds need closer attention.
• You are not sure when you were last vaccinated against tetanus.
• The wound is not healing, or you see spreading redness, increasing pain, pus or a fever.
• For external use only. Do not swallow the gel, and keep it away from the eyes and mouth.

• Use Silverex Ionic gel as directed by your doctor.
• You must clean the wound/injury before application.
• Apply a thin layer and cover it with a dressing.
• Avoid applying the product too often, follow your doctor's instructions for cleaning the wound and changing the dressing.
• Wash your hands before and after applying it. If the gel gets into your eyes, rinse them with clean water immediately.
• Do not apply it to the eyes, mouth or other sensitive areas. Silver nitrate can irritate or damage tissue.
• Use it for the period your doctor set, over the area they advised. Do not keep using it indefinitely or spread it over large areas.
• Clean the gel off the skin before any procedure or scan involving metal or imaging, such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy or an MRI.

• Store Silverex Ionic gel in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
• Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Keep the cap closed and keep the tube in its carton, as silver products are sensitive to light.
• Do not use it after the expiry date, or if the gel has changed colour or appearance. Do not share the tube with anyone else.
• Return unused or expired tubes to a pharmacy rather than putting them in household waste.

• Silverex Ionic gel is a topical antimicrobial and antiseptic agent. Use it only for the wound-care condition your doctor recommends.
• Do not use Silverex Ionic on children or infants without consulting a doctor.
• Discontinue use if you experience any adverse reactions or if symptoms do not improve, and contact your doctor.
• Know when a wound needs medical attention: if it’s deep or gaping, caused by a bite, a large or blistered burn, has something embedded in it, or if you have diabetes or poor circulation.
• Watch for spreading redness, increasing pain, pus, or fever. These may indicate an infection that needs medical assessment, rather than further self-treatment with the gel.
• Use it only over the recommended area and for the recommended duration. Excessive or prolonged exposure to silver may cause unwanted effects, including skin discolouration.

Interactions with other medicines

• Silverex ionic gel is for external use only.
• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about anything else you are putting on the same wound, and about any medicine you take by mouth that affects healing.
• Do not layer other creams, ointments, antiseptics, or home remedies onto the same wound at the same time unless your doctor has told you to. They can inactivate each other and can irritate the wound.
• Some wound dressings are not meant to be used together with a silver product. Follow the dressing instructions your doctor or nurse gave you.
• Tell your doctor if you take medicines that may affect wound healing or your immune system, such as corticosteroids or chemotherapy medicines. Do not stop prescribed medicines without medical advice.
• Clean the gel off before procedures or imaging involving metal, such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy or an MRI scan.
