Uses
- Treatment of schizophrenia (mental illness marked by abnormal interpretation of reality)
- Treatment of manic episodes (periods of abnormally great excitement) associated with bipolar disorders
- Treatment (up to 6 weeks) of patients with Alzheimer's dementia showing persistent aggression
- Short-term symptomatic treatment (up to 6 weeks) of intellectually challenged children (above five years) and adolescents exhibiting repetitive emotional and behavioural problems (conduct disorder)
Contraindications
- If you have a known allergy to risperidone or other substances used in the medicine.

- You have a heart problem (irregular heart rhythm or high/low blood pressure problems).

- You have or have had a low white blood cell count.
- You are a man and have had a prolonged or painful erection in the past.
- You have an abnormally high level of prolactin( hormone).
- You have trouble with overheating or controlling body temperature
- You have a family history of blood clots.
- You have a surgery or dental procedure scheduled.
- You conceive or are planning a pregnancy during the course of medication.
Directions for Use
- Risdone Tab should be taken orally.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- You can break the tablet along the score line if there is any difficulty swallowing the whole tablet. The scoreline should not be used to divide the dose.
- Risdone Tab may be taken either with or without food.
- For optimal pharmacological effects, it should be taken around the same time every day.

Interactions with other medicines
- Risdone may increase the sedative effect of certain medications that are used in the treatment of anxiety or sleep issues, antidepressants, dopamine agonists such as bromocriptine, sedatives, sleeping pills, tranquillisers.
- Medicines for seizures or other medicines used for mental health issues.
- Water tablets (diuretics).
- Medication in the treatment of hypertension (raised blood pressure).
- Medicines for the treatment of Parkinson's disease (such as levodopa).
- Medications to increase central nervous system activity.
