Pentothal Sodium 0.5gm Injection 1'S
Pentothal 0.5 G Description
Pentothal Sodium Injection is a prescription medicine used as an anaesthetic, alone or with other medications. It is used to induce general anaesthesia, reduce pressure inside the skull, and reduce c
onvulsions. It produces the effect of hypnosis and is used as the only anaesthetic agent in brief procedures of less than 15 minutes. The main ingredient in Pentothal Sodium Injection is Thiopental. It belongs to a class of medications called Barbiturate. The mode of action of Pentothal Sodium injection is to increase the activity of a chemical messenger in a certain part of the brain. This injection should be administered intravenously or IV (into the vein) for the induction of general anaesthesia or the production of complete anaesthesia of short duration. Small doses of this medicine have been shown to be anti-analgesic (reduces pain) by lowering the pain threshold. It should be strictly administered by a doctor or a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinical setting. Side effects of the Pentothal Sodium Injection include central nervous system depression (steady decline of breathing). The effects and safety of this injection in children are not known.
