Medical Description
Panex Cr Tablet contains the active ingredient paroxetine. It belongs to the class of antidepressants used in the treatment of depression and anxiety-related disorders. Panex Cr is commonly prescribed for conditions such as major depressive disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), panic disorders, agoraphobia, social and generalised anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These conditions are associated with a decrease in the levels of serotonin in the brain, which inherently stabilises the mood, sleep, and eating pattern of a person.
Panex Cr Tab may be prescribed in progressively increasing doses, and so, any resumption or abrupt discontinuation of Panex Cr Tablet should be informed to the treating doctor as it could increase the severity of the underlying condition. Paroxetine is a delayed action medicine and may take a few days before showing improvement in your condition.
Before starting Panex Cr, the doctor should be informed of all the ongoing medications to avoid drug interaction. The doctor should also be informed about any current and future pregnancy status, breastfeeding, epileptic condition (fits or seizures), diabetes mellitus, glaucoma (abnormally increased pressure in the eye), difficulty passing urine, liver, heart, or kidney conditions, and the precise age of the patient.

Contraindications
If you have hypersensitivity or allergy to paroxetine or other ingredients of this medicine.
If you are undergoing treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
If you take medications that inhibit the hepatic enzyme CYP450 2D6, such as thioridazine.
If you take medicines with pimozide.

Talk to your doctor if
- You have any systemic or chronic diseases of the heart, liver, kidney, or diabetes mellitus.

Directions for Use
- Panex Cr Tablet is to be consumed by the oral route with a glass of water or as directed by your doctor.
- It is advisable to consume this medication in the morning.
- It can be taken with or after food.
- It is advisable to take Panex Cr Tablet every day at the same predetermined time.
- The dosage and frequency is to be followed strictly as per the doctor’s advice.
- The dosage changes according to the age, disease being treated, response, induction, maintenance, other medications, and systemic conditions.
- Keep your doctor informed at all times about any change, multiple missed doses, or side effects.
Storage and disposal
Panex Cr Tablet should be stored at room temperature, in a cool and dry environment (below 30℃). Avoid exposure to moisture, direct sunlight, and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children and pets. Overdose
- Panex Cr Tablet has a wide margin of safety. However, if you mistakenly take an overdose of Panex Cr Tablet, irrespective of whether or not you exhibit signs and symptoms such as fever, involuntary movements or twitching of muscles, inform your doctor immediately and follow the orders as advised. An overdose of Panex Cr may be seriously detrimental to your health, especially when taken with alcohol or other psychotropic medications
Missed a Dose
If you miss a dose of Panex Cr Tablet, take it as soon as you remember it. However, never double the dose. In case you remember the missed dose very close to the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue your schedule.
Keep your doctor informed at all times about any change, multiple missed doses.
Mode of Action
How Does It Work?
The constituent active ingredient of Panex Cr is paroxetine. It acts by reducing the reabsorption of serotonin presynaptically. The higher level of serotonin across the neuronal channels directly leads to its antidepressant action. Furthermore, the low affinity of paroxetine for multiple alpha, beta-adrenoceptors, dopamine and histamine receptors post-synaptically, means that Panex Cr does not exhibit the central nervous system depressant and hypotensive (decreased blood pressure) effects, unlike most of the other antidepressant medications.
