Description
Tobaprex-F Eye Drops from Ikon is a prescription combination that may support doctor-directed management of bacterial eye infections accompanied by redness, swelling, irritation, or itching. It contains tobramycin 0.3% w/v and fluorometholone 0.1% w/v. Tobramycin may help limit bacterial growth, while fluorometholone may help calm the eye's inflammatory response. Use it only in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
How to Use
Use Tobaprex-F Eye Drops at the dose, times, and duration prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands and tilt your head back. Gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket, then instil the prescribed number of drops. Close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any other surface. Use the drops at evenly spaced intervals and complete the prescribed course, even if your symptoms improve.
Features
- Combines an antibacterial component and a steroid component in one ophthalmic formulation.
- Provides antibacterial and anti-inflammatory actions when a doctor determines that both are needed.
Side Effects
- Brief eye irritation or stinging after application.
- Temporary blurred vision immediately after applying the drops.
- Burning, itching, or redness around the treated eye.
Precautions and Warnings
- Do not use these drops for viral, fungal, or tubercular eye infections.
- Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any ingredient or have glaucoma, cataracts, or another long-term eye condition.
- Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy. The drops are prescribed in these situations only when the expected benefit outweighs the risk.
- Tell your doctor about all other eye medicines you use.
- Wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.
- Stop use and contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe eye pain, vision changes, or signs that the eye problem is worsening.
- It is not recommended for children below 1 year because its safety and effectiveness have not been established.
- Consult your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
- The interaction with alcohol is unknown. Consult your doctor before consuming alcohol during use.
- Avoid smoking because it may further irritate the eyes.
Ingredients
- Tobramycin 0.3% w/v: An antibiotic that blocks bacteria from making proteins needed for growth and multiplication.
- Fluorometholone 0.1% w/v: A steroid that reduces the release of substances linked with redness, swelling, and itching.
Comparison
Compared with using separate antibiotic and steroid eye medicines, Tobaprex-F combines both types of action in one ophthalmic formulation. A doctor should decide whether this combination is appropriate.
Uses
- May be prescribed for bacterial eye infections accompanied by redness, swelling, irritation, or itching.
- A doctor may prescribe it after certain eye surgeries when both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory eye care are needed.
Benefits
- Tobramycin may help limit bacterial growth by blocking the production of proteins that bacteria need to grow and multiply.
- Inflammation-related redness, swelling, itching, and irritation may be eased by fluorometholone.
