Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID) that blocks the action of a chemical called cyclooxygenase. Cycloxygenase is responsible for producing a substance called prostaglandins that cause pain, redness and swelling in the body.
Methyl salicylate is a counter-irritant that is also responsible for blocking the action of cyclooxygenase. It relieves the underlying muscle and joint pain and discomfort.
Menthol is used to temporarily relieve minor backache, muscular or joint discomfort, bruises and arthritis pain.
Alcohol acts as a skin penetration enhancer and helps to increase the penetration of other ingredients into the skin.
