Escipra 5 MG Description

Escipra tablet is an antidepressant medication used to treat major depressive disorder and other mental health conditions like anxiety, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Escipr

a tablet contains escitalopram as an active ingredient. Escitalopram works by increasing serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a chemical messenger responsible for elevating the mood, improving energy and reducing nervousness. Depression is characterised by episodes of sadness, mood swings, loss of interest, hopelessness, loneliness, etc. In contrast, anxiety disorder is a mental health condition characterised by episodes of fear, worry, nervousness, sweating and rapid heartbeat. Escipra tablet should be taken after doctor’s consultation. Many side effects are associated with this medicine, so dosage must be carefully monitored. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it can cause clinical worsening of your condition or may lead to withdrawal symptoms.

As per CDSCO, Escipra tablet is used for the following:
Treatment of major depressive disorder
Treatment of generalised anxiety disorder
Treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Treatment of panic disorder

Contraindications of Escipra 5 MG

Escipra tablet is contraindicated in the following cases:
If you are allergic to any of the components of the Escipra tablet, i.e. Escitalopram
If you take Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) like Selegiline, Rasagiline and antipsychotic medicine-pimozide
If you use other anti-anxiety or sedative medications
If you have acute angle glaucoma, which increases the fluid pressure in the eyes
If you have liver or kidney disease
If you have respiratory issues
If you have a heart condition
If you are pregnant and a lactating mother

Side effects of Escipra 5 MG

The side effects of Escipra tablets include the following:

Can I take an Escipra tablet during pregnancy?

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol with the Escipra tablet?

Directions for Use of Escipra 5 MG

Take the Escipra tablet as prescribed by the physician.
Take the medicine with or without food or as prescribed by the doctor.
Take Escipra tablet on a regular schedule, preferably at the same time every day to maintain it constant level in the body.
Take the whole tablet orally with a glass of water. Do not break or chew this medicine.
Do not take Escipra tablet with other medications without consulting your doctor.
Do not stop taking Escipra tablet suddenly, as it may lead to withdrawal side effects.
Do not exceed the dosage on your own, even if you cannot feel its effects.
