• As per USFDA, Riswel Ls tablet is an antipsychotic medicine indicated for the management of
• Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents. This medicine manages both positive and negative symptoms like hallucination, delusions, lack of pleasure, memory problems, cognitive problems, etc.
• Short-term management of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder in adults, children and adolescents aged 10-17 years.
• Irritability related to autistic disorder in children and adolescents aged 5-16 years.

• If you have a known allergy to risperidone or any component of Riswel Ls tablets.
• If you are an older adult with dementia-related psychosis. There is an increased risk of death.
• If you are under treatment with other antipsychotic medication.
• If you have neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a neuromuscular disorder).
• If you have tardive dyskinesia (sudden jerky movements).
• If you have diabetes and uncontrolled glucose levels.
• If you have a tumour on your adrenal gland (a condition called pheochromocytoma).
• If you have been diagnosed with a prolactin-dependent tumour, this medicine can increase prolactin levels.
• If you have a history of seizure disorder.
• If you have a low white blood cell count (leukopenia or neutropenia).
• If you have an adrenal gland tumour, this medicine can cause life-threatening high blood pressure.
• If you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.

How Does It Work?

• Take Riswel Ls tablets exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
• Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water; do not break or chew it.
• Do not try to take it with other medicines without informing your doctor.
• You can take Riswel Ls tablets with or without consuming food.
• Do not use this medication if the package has been already opened.
• Do not exceed the prescribed dosage of Riswel Ls medicine, even if you cannot feel its effects.
• Do not suddenly stop taking Riswel Ls tablets as it can cause adverse effects.

Interactions with other medicines

• Riswel Ls tablets with levodopa (used for Parkinson's disease) may have opposite effects.
• Use caution if you take medicines that lower high blood pressure; combining these two medicines can cause very low blood pressure.
• Use caution if you take medicines that lower potassium in the body, like laxatives, diuretics, etc.; Riswel Ls tablets can lower potassium further and cause side effects.
• Medicines like fluoxetine and paroxetine can increase the levels of Riswel Ls medicine in the body.
• Use caution if you take tablets that lower heart rate; Riswel Ls can further reduce the heart rate.
• Other antipsychotics, anti-seizure medications, or antidepressants, along with Riswel Ls tablets, can result in severe effects.
• Use caution if you use other sedatives, antimalarial medicines, heart medicines, anti-allergy medicines, etc. On interaction, all of them can cause increased drowsiness.

Overdose
