Riswel Ls tablet is primarily used to manage psychotic disorders like Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder. These psychiatric conditions affect a person's ability to think, feel and behave appropriately. Managing irritability in autistic children, manic episodes, etc., are other uses of Riswel Ls tablets. This medicine may be prescribed alone or with Lithium or Valproate to treat bipolar disorder in adults. But it is prescribed on its own in children and adolescents.
Riswel Ls tablet has risperidone and trihexyphenidyl as its active ingredients. It belongs to a class of atypical antipsychotic medicines. The mode of action of Riswel Ls tablets is by stabilising levels of certain chemical messengers that help manage the mood and lower overactivity in the brain. Trihexyphenidyl is added to lower the side effects of Riswel Ls tablets, such as sudden movements.
This medicine can cause death in older adults with memory loss associated with psychotic disorders. It can also cause suicidal thoughts in young adults. - As per USFDA, Riswel Ls tablet is an antipsychotic medicine indicated for the management of
- Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents. This medicine manages both positive and negative symptoms like hallucination, delusions, lack of pleasure, memory problems, cognitive problems, etc.
- Short-term management of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder in adults, children and adolescents aged 10-17 years.
- Irritability related to autistic disorder in children and adolescents aged 5-16 years.
Contraindications of Riswel Ls 2 MG
- If you have a known allergy to risperidone or any component of Riswel Ls tablets.
- If you are an older adult with dementia-related psychosis. There is an increased risk of death.
- If you are under treatment with other antipsychotic medication.
- If you have neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a neuromuscular disorder).
- If you have tardive dyskinesia (sudden jerky movements).
- If you have diabetes and uncontrolled glucose levels.
- If you have a tumour on your adrenal gland (a condition called pheochromocytoma).
- If you have been diagnosed with a prolactin-dependent tumour, this medicine can increase prolactin levels.
- If you have a history of seizure disorder.
- If you have a low white blood cell count (leukopenia or neutropenia).
- If you have an adrenal gland tumour, this medicine can cause life-threatening high blood pressure.
- If you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.

Riswel Ls Tablet contains risperidone and trihexyphenidyl as its active components.
Risperidone belongs to the class of medications called atypical antipsychotics. It acts by increasing dopamine and serotonin activity by blocking their receptors. These are chemical messengers responsible for ability, mood, and cognitive behaviour. By blocking these receptors, the effect of these chemical substances lasts longer, which helps in improving the various symptoms of schizophrenia and other disorders.
Trihexyphenidyl is an anticholinergic agent that blocks the effects of acetylcholine, a natural substance. This helps lower muscle stiffness, sweating, and excess production of saliva. It is added to this medicine to lower involuntary movements due to the side effects of risperidone....
Directions for Use of Riswel Ls 2 MG
- Take Riswel Ls tablets exactly as prescribed by the doctor.
- Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water; do not break or chew it.
