asleep. Zolpidem is particularly useful in the short-term management of insomnia where there is difficulty in falling asleep. It prevents frequent awakenings at night and lengthens sleep duration. The active ingredient in Sobrium tablets is Zolpidem 5 mg. Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine sedative and hypnotic agent. Zolpidem has habit-forming potential and the potential to be misused. Directions for use of Sobrium tablets is necessary. Careful monitoring of the user on this medication must be done. Sobrium tablets should be taken as recommended by the doctor. It should not be abruptly started or stopped, as it may cause withdrawal effects. Taking the pill at the same time every day is advisable for maximum efficacy. Contraindications of Sobrium 5 MG
- Do not take Sobrium tablets or use caution:
- If you have an allergy or are hypersensitive to Zolpidem; this medicine is contraindicated in such persons
- If you have respiratory insufficiency or obstructive sleep apnea
- If you are a child; this medicine is contraindicated in children
- If you have a history of psychotic symptoms
- If you have liver failure; this medicine is contraindicated
- If you have myasthenia gravis (a condition that affects muscles and respiration)
- If you have rare, hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption; it is contraindicated in such persons

Interactions with other medicines
- Sobrium tablets can interact with many medicines and cause adverse side effects. It is advised to inform the doctor of all medication being taken to be checked for possible interaction issues. The following medicines are known to interact with Sobrium tablets....
- Combined use with CNS depressants like alcohol causes increased psycho-motor side effects.
- The use of Sobrium tablets with Imipramine (a tricyclic antidepressant) results in decreased alertness in users.
- Impaired alertness and psycho-motor performance are observed in persons who use zolpidem and chlorpromazine.
- The concomitant use of rifampin and zolpidem decreases the efficacy of the latter.
- Concomitant use of ketoconazole and zolpidem can decrease the efficacy of zolpidem.
- The concomitant use of Sobrium tablets with opioids (like morphine and tramadol) is contraindicated, as it may cause respiratory depression, coma, and death.
- Inform your doctor regarding your current medications at the time of prescription of Sobrium tablets.
Interactions with food items
- Take Sobrium tablets before food. The absorption of Zolpidem is decreased when taken with or immediately after food.
