Overview

Overview

The Genetic Preventive Health Assessment test is a personalised wellness assessment that uses your genetic information to provide insights into how certain genetic variations may be associated with factors such as nutrition, exercise, lifestyle habits, and other aspects of health. Your genes can influence how you process nutrients, regulate metabolism, respond to physical activity, and interact with environmental and lifestyle factors. Understanding these genetic variations may help you make more informed choices for long-term health and wellness.

The test analyses 44 genetic markers across five key areas: nutrition and metabolic health; disease susceptibility and preventive health; food sensitivity and lifestyle response; fitness and physical performance; and behavioural, cognitive, and gender-specific health. It may provide insights into nutrient metabolism, weight management, cardiovascular and metabolic health, food and lifestyle responses, exercise and recovery, sleep and circadian rhythm, oxidative stress, bone health, and selected hormonal and behavioural traits. The results provide personalised insights based on your genetic profile, which may help inform lifestyle and wellness choices.

The test requires a blood sample, which can be collected from your home by a trained phlebotomist at a convenient time. Fasting is not required, so you may follow your usual diet and routine before sample collection. The report is intended to support wellness and preventive health planning and does not diagnose diseases or predict with certainty whether a condition will develop. Genetic findings should be interpreted in context, as having a particular genetic variation does not necessarily mean that a health condition or trait will occur. Your doctor or healthcare professional can help interpret the results alongside your personal and family history and other relevant health information.

What Does This Test Detect?

What Does This Test Detect?

The Genetic Preventive Health Assessment test analyses selected genetic variations to provide personalised insights across different aspects of health, lifestyle, and wellness, including:

  • Nutrition and metabolic health: Genetic factors related to vitamin and nutrient metabolism, iron-related genetic predisposition, homocysteine metabolism, obesity predisposition, weight management, fat metabolism, and sensitivity to certain dietary components.
  • Disease susceptibility and preventive health: Genetic factors associated with lipid metabolism, cardiovascular health, obesity and metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, inflammation, insulin sensitivity, and other selected disease- associated risks.
  • Food sensitivity and lifestyle response: Genetic traits associated with lactose, caffeine, and salt sensitivity, histamine response, and individual differences in the body’s response to alcohol and nicotine.
  • Fitness and physical performance: Genetic factors associated with exercise response, endurance, strength, power, injury risk, and recovery, and other exercise- and performance related traits.
  • Behavioural, cognitive and gender-specific health: Genetic factors related to sleep and circadian rhythm, appetite regulation, behavioural and cognitive traits, earwax and body odour characteristics, bone health, and aspects of men’s or women’s hormonal health.
  • Antioxidant defence and oxidative stress, as well as other traits relevant to personalised wellness and preventive health.

Important: These results indicate genetic tendencies or predispositions, not actual vitamin levels, disease presence, or certainty that a condition or trait will develop. They should be interpreted as part of a broader health assessment and used to support personalised lifestyle choices and wellness planning, rather than replace medical evaluation.

How to Prepare for the Genetic Preventive Health Assessment Test?

How to Prepare for the Genetic Preventive Health Assessment Test?

What to expect before the sample collection:

  • Fasting is not required, so you can have your usual meals and follow your normal routine.
  • The test can be done at any time of the day.
  • No specific dietary or lifestyle changes are generally needed before sample collection.
  • Inform your doctor about any relevant medical history, medications, or genetic concerns if you are undergoing the test as part of a medical evaluation.

What to expect during the sample collection:

  • The sample collection process is simple and usually takes only a few minutes.
  • A trained phlebotomist will visit your home at the scheduled time and will collect a blood sample from a vein in your arm using a sterile needle after cleaning the area with an antiseptic.
  • You may experience a brief pinprick or mild discomfort when the needle is inserted, but the procedure is generally well tolerated.
  • Once the blood sample has been collected, gentle pressure will be applied to the site, and a small bandage may be placed to minimise bleeding.

What to expect after the sample collection:

  • Once the sample has been collected, it will be taken to the laboratory for analysis.
  • Mild pain, bruising, or tenderness at the blood collection site may occur but typically resolves within a day or two without treatment.
  • You can resume your normal activities immediately after sample collection.
  • Reports are expected in about 15 days after sample collection. The report provides personalised genetic insights and wellness-related recommendations based on the markers analysed.
  • The report is intended for wellness and preventive planning and should be interpreted in the context of your overall health and, where appropriate, with guidance from a doctor or qualified healthcare professional.

Note: If you notice anything unusual at the puncture site, such as persistent bleeding, a rash, or pain, consult your healthcare provider.

People Also Ask

Is this test suitable for children?

The assessment is primarily intended for adults. For children or adolescents, discuss the suitability of genetic testing with their paediatrician.

Can medications affect the genetic test results?

Most medicines do not change your DNA, so they generally do not affect the genetic analysis. Do not stop any prescribed medication for this test unless advised by your doctor.

Can my lifestyle change my genetic test results?

Your DNA sequence generally remains the same throughout life. However, your lifestyle and environment can influence how genetic tendencies may be expressed.

Can this test tell me which diet is best for me?

It may provide genetic insights related to nutrition and dietary responses, but it cannot determine a single ideal diet for you. Your overall health, dietary habits, and individual needs also matter.

Can genetic testing tell me whether I will develop a disease?

Genetic findings may indicate susceptibility to certain conditions or traits, but they cannot establish with certainty that a disease will develop.

Can I use the results to change my medicines or supplements?

The results should not be used on their own to start, stop, or change medicines or supplements. Discuss any changes with your healthcare professional.

Does this test examine my entire genome?

This assessment analyses selected genetic markers relevant to the traits included in the test; it should not be considered equivalent to sequencing every part of your genome.

Can this test tell me about my family’s genetic risks?

Your genetic results may provide information about traits that can have a hereditary component, but they should not be used to assess relatives without appropriate professional guidance.

Can two people have different results even if they have similar lifestyles?

Yes. Genetic variations differ between individuals and may contribute to differences in how people respond to similar diets, exercise, or lifestyle factors.

Does a genetic predisposition mean I already have the condition?

No. A genetic predisposition indicates a tendency or susceptibility to have the condition and does not mean that you currently have a particular disease or health condition.

Can I use this report as a substitute for routine health check-ups?

No. Genetic wellness testing does not replace routine medical check-ups, screening tests, or investigations recommended by your doctor.
