The pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain, below the hypothalamus. It is the gland that controls the endocrine system by producing hormones that control the activities of other hormone-producing glands.

One of the hormones the pituitary gland produces is the TSH or thyroid stimulating hormone. The hormone tells the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones like T3 and T4. The TSH regulates the function of the thyroid gland.
