Jaanch Hypertension Package
- SummaryJaanch Hypertension Package is a comprehensive screening tool designed to evaluate the underlying causes and potential complications of high blood pressure (Hypertension). It assesses heart health, kidney and liver function, blood sugar, lipid profile, inflammation, electrolyte imbalance, stress hormone levels, and markers linked to cardiovascular risk. The panel also includes advanced tests to help identify early signs of heart and kidney damage and to assess complications related to hypertension. Ideal for individuals with high blood pressure, a family history of hypertension, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, or those experiencing symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, or fluctuating blood pressure levels, along with chronic smokers. Know More About The Package
Overview
The Jaanch Hypertension Package is a detailed health check-up designed to evaluate factors associated with high blood pressure (hypertension) and assess the health of organs that may be affected by persistent hypertension. Hypertension often develops without noticeable symptoms, but persistently high blood pressure can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and other complications. In some people, it may also be linked to underlying kidney, hormonal, or metabolic conditions that require further evaluation.
This package comprises 96 tests that assess blood health, cholesterol and heart health, kidney and liver function, blood sugar levels, electrolyte balance, inflammation, and urine parameters. It also includes tests that can identify early signs of kidney damage. Aldosterone and renin, which are involved in regulating blood pressure, are also included; their levels can help doctors evaluate certain underlying causes of high blood pressure. The serum cortisol test measures a hormone involved in the body’s stress response and blood pressure regulation. Abnormal cortisol levels may provide clues to certain conditions that can contribute to high blood pressure and may require further evaluation.
This package requires blood as well as urine samples. An overnight fast of 8 - 12 hours is recommended before sample collection. As cortisol levels are highest in the morning, it is recommended to schedule sample collection between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. for accurate interpretation of cortisol levels. Your doctor will interpret the results alongside your blood pressure readings, symptoms, medical history, medications, and other clinical findings. Abnormal results do not by themselves establish a diagnosis and may require additional or confirmatory tests.
Who Should Book the Jaanch Hypertension Package?
This package may be suitable for adults with high blood pressure or those at increased risk of developing hypertension, particularly people who:
- Have repeatedly elevated blood pressure readings or have been diagnosed with hypertension.
- Have a family history of high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease.
- Have risk factors such as overweight/obesity, physical inactivity, diabetes, or abnormal cholesterol levels.
- Have hypertension that is difficult to control despite treatment, where an underlying kidney or hormonal cause may need to be considered.
- Have signs or a history suggesting kidney, cardiovascular, or metabolic problems associated with high blood pressure.
- Are undergoing evaluation for possible secondary causes of hypertension, as advised by their doctor.
Important: This package does not measure blood pressure itself and should not replace regular blood-pressure monitoring. The decision to investigate or manage hypertension should be based on blood-pressure measurements, clinical history, and your doctor’s assessment.
What Does This Package Detect?
The Jaanch Hypertension Package can help identify abnormalities and risk factors associated with high blood pressure, as well as early changes in organs that may be affected by persistent hypertension. Depending on the results, it may help detect:
- Diabetes and prediabetes - Abnormal blood sugar levels, which can increase cardiovascular risk in people with hypertension.
- Cardiovascular risk - Unhealthy cholesterol and other markers associated with heart disease, a major complication of hypertension.
- Kidney problems - Reduced kidney function or early kidney damage, which can both result from and contribute to hypertension.
- Liver abnormalities - Changes in liver function that may occur alongside metabolic risk factors associated with hypertension.
- Electrolyte imbalances - Abnormal sodium, potassium, or chloride levels that can affect blood pressure and fluid balance.
- Hormonal causes of high blood pressure - Abnormal aldosterone or renin levels that may point to certain underlying causes of hypertension.
- Adrenal abnormalities - Abnormal cortisol levels that may provide clues to certain conditions associated with high blood pressure.
- Inflammation - Raised inflammatory markers associated with increased cardiovascular risk.
- Blood or urine abnormalities - Changes that may indicate conditions related to hypertension, requiring further evaluation.
Note: These tests do not diagnose hypertension or confirm a specific underlying disorder on their own. Your doctor will interpret the results along with your blood-pressure readings, symptoms, medical history, and other clinical findings, and may recommend further tests when needed.
How to Prepare for the Jaanch Hypertension Package?
What to expect before the sample collection:
- Fast for 8 - 12 hours before sample collection. You may drink plain water during the fasting period.
- Schedule the sample collection between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. if possible, because the package includes a cortisol test, and cortisol levels are naturally highest during this time.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and smoking before the test, as these may temporarily affect some results.
- Continue your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise. Do not stop blood-pressure or other prescribed medicines on your own.
- Inform the phlebotomist or your doctor about any medicines, supplements, or recent illness, as these may influence certain results.
- For the urine tests, follow the collection instructions provided by the laboratory and avoid contaminating the sample.
What to expect during the sample collection:
Blood sample collection
- The sample collection process is simple and usually takes only a few minutes.
- A trained phlebotomist will visit your home at the scheduled time and will collect a blood sample from a vein in your arm using a sterile needle after cleaning the area with an antiseptic.
- You may experience a brief pinprick or mild discomfort when the needle is inserted, but the procedure is generally well tolerated.
- Once the blood sample has been collected, gentle pressure will be applied to the site, and a small bandage may be placed to minimise bleeding.
Urine sample collection
- You will also be asked to provide a urine sample in a sterile container. Before collecting the sample, you may clean the genital area well to help prevent contamination.
- Collecting a midstream urine sample is preferred, which involves passing the first portion of urine into the toilet and collecting the middle portion in the container. This helps reduce contamination.
- During the entire process, ensure that you do not touch the inner portion of the container with your fingers.
- Once the sample is collected, securely close the container and hand it over to the phlebotomist.
What to expect after the sample collection:
- Once both samples have been collected, they will be taken to the laboratory for analysis.
- You can resume normal diet, medications and activities soon after this test, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
- Mild pain, bruising, or tenderness at the blood collection site may occur but typically resolves within a day or two without treatment.
- Once the analysis of your samples is completed, the reports will be uploaded on the PharmEasy platform, from where they can be accessed.
- You may share the reports with your doctor, who will interpret them along with your symptoms, medical history, and any other investigations before recommending further evaluation, treatment, or lifestyle modifications, if required.
Note: If you notice anything unusual at the puncture site, such as persistent bleeding, a rash, or pain, consult your healthcare provider.
